The Product Manager, Rhythmic Urban-Pop (Hip Hop, Dance & International Pop) is responsible for the development and execution of world-class marketing strategies with a concentration on consumer-driven marketing. Oversight will include coordinating all aspects of each project with key departments across the organization and any third party vendors, in an effort to maximize the potential for each projects success. This includes identifying new & creative ways to image and expose projects within this genre.
Detailed Job Description/ Responsibilities:
Responsible for the strategic planning, development and implementation of effective and impactful frontline album release marketing initiatives and campaigns for assigned artists
Coordinate all label departments' (interactive marketing, publicity, video production and promotion, art, lifestyle marketing, radio promotion, merch and e-commerce, licensing, brand partnerships, international, tour marketing, sales, etc.) efforts leading up to, and throughout, album releases to ensure proper execution of overall marketing plan objectives on both a domestic and international level
Understand the demographics that comprise artists' fan bases and, based on the assets delivered by artists, develop product suites to increase fan bases and revenue streams.
Help direct international strategies, as well as communicate information and create appropriate tools for international territories for assigned projects.
Secure strategic marketing placements and opportunities with outside corporate and entertainment partners.
Liaise with artists and artist management on a regular basis to procure marketing approvals and exploit viable opportunities.
Work closely with Artist & Repertoire from early stages of product to maintain consistency and vision of A&R.
Review the financial profitability of projects and, along with head of Marketing, determine the effectiveness of all marketing campaigns.
Responsible for developing and gaining approval on budgets for assigned projects. Accountable for all marketing expenditures as they relate to the bottom line profitability of a project.
Revise and approve all release sheet information, product sticker copy, press releases, final product art film, and all marketing elements and tools to maintain project integrity.
Search out/research new marketing opportunities and strategies.
Required Competencies/Skills:
5+ years of general marketing or related experience to grasp a full understanding of all day-to-day operations.
Extensive music industry experience within the Rhythmic music (Hip Hop, Dance & International Pop) space with an emphasis on consumer-driven marketing required.
Must understand the DJ culture and how to market effectively within the Rhythmic Urban/Pop genre
Must be able to develop and maintain close relationships with artists to be able to effectively articulate and sell the strategies for each campaign
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Outstanding attention to detail and follow-through.
Exceptional organizational skills, with a strong ability to balance multiple priorities.
An aggressive self-starter, with a pro-active approach.
Travel required
