Detailed Job Description/ Responsibilities:
• Negotiating and drafting agreements relating to the acquisition and exploitation of rights in musical recordings and compositions (e.g., recording agreements, producer agreements, audio and audiovisual master use licenses, side artist clearances)
• Reviewing and clearing creative material, including program content for video exploitation, audio releases, related marketing materials, licensed merchandise, etc.
• Researching and interpreting existing contracts; preparing contract summaries
• Monitoring compliance with contractual obligations
• Other general legal research, particularly related to intellectual property rights
• Such other duties as reasonably may be required
Required Competencies/Skills:
• 2 to 3 years of post-bar law firm and/or in-house experience, preferably in connection with the acquisition and distribution of intellectual property rights.
• Strong drafting/writing skills
• Demonstrated ability to work independently within a team-oriented environment.
Special Requirements/Preferences:
• Music Industry experience is strongly preferred.
Education Required/Preferred:
• JD or equivalent, plus admission to the California and/or New York state bars
