Your Task
• Design and build scalable infrastructure and platform to collect and process very large amounts of data (structured and unstructured), including streaming real-time data.
• Architect the data pipeline to meet the needs of an technology centric company.
• Hands-on management and mentoring of a team of Data Platform Engineers.
• Collaborate with key stakeholders to understand, document and prioritize key technology decisions, processes and business needs for data and intelligence. This will require an extensive technical background and experience with working on big data in a highly distributed environment.
• Work with business analysts and business stakeholders to help define technology needs for the logging, processing, storage and presentation of data in a manner that delivers business value.
• Liaise with other development and reporting teams through the implementation process of new reporting systems.
• Create, define and deliver new processes that will enable better development efficiencies.
• Own a road map to automate and key reports in a consistent and scalable fashion.
Your Skills
• Expert in Hadoop Map/Reduce development skills. Extensive Hands-on Hadoop and columnar system programming is must.
• 3 years working experience in Shell programming, HDFS, Pig, Hive, HCatalog, Flume, Sqoop, ZooKeeper and Hbase, one or more MPP columnar databases.
• 2 years working experience on ETL technologies.
• Experienced with visualization technologies; D3, Raphael, Protovis & Highcharts.
• Working knowledge of statistical tools, R will be first preference.
• Experience in real-time analytics and logging.
• Basic knowledge of LAMP stack is must.
• Programming experience with Java, & Python/C is must.
• Significant hands-on experience with technologies in the Hadoop ecosystem (HDFS, Hive, Pig, MapReduce, etc.)
• Strong experience with Java, Python, SQL, shell scripting
• Proficiency with cloud services like EC2, S3, EMR
• Experience with NoSQL technologies like HBase or Cassandra
• Experience with a variety of data formats and protocols such as JSON, Avro
• Experience with tools like Jenkins, Puppet, Ansible
• Familiarity with performance/scalability tuning, algorithms, and computational complexity
B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent knowledge and experience.
