Assistant Manager- Business and Legal Affairs (Miami Beach, Florida)
Responsibilities and Duties:
• Working with the New Media department to clear rights and reviewing agreements with third party digital services, including but not limited to, streaming and digital music download content and aggregator agreements.
• Reviewing and documenting audio/video master use licenses, recording agreements, producer agreements, distribution agreements, and video production agreements. Handling AFM union issues.
• Creating and maintaining documentation on rights, options, royalties, advances, guarantees, and corporate data (including domain names and trademarks).
• Monitoring ongoing contractual relationships and triggers.
• Rendering general assistance to the A&R, sales, marketing, and creative departments regarding any documents that may be required from such departments. Advising such departments on various legal and business matters.
• Other responsibilities as assigned.
Job Requirements:
•
BA/BS and JD required.
•
Current membership in Florida or New York Bar.
• A minimum of 1-2 years of experience either in a law firm or a corporate environment.
Qualifications:
• Candidate must be extremely organized, self-starter, fast learner and must possess analytical skills, an ability to work under pressure, an ability to work on own but within a team oriented environment, and the ability to meet deadlines.
• Experience in drafting and negotiating contracts; Understanding of transactional work; Trademark and IP law experience is a plus.
• Preferable, but not essential, prior record label or music publishing, or other entertainment, media, or new media related experience.
• Written and spoken Spanish is highly preferred. Proficient in MS Office.
