WMG - Warner Music Group Department Description:
• The U.S. Recorded Music Rights Administration Division (“RMRA”) consists of four main departments: Artist Royalties Administration, Licensing & Rights Administration, Publishing Royalties & Administration, and Legal Affairs.
• The Legal Affairs Department consists of three main groups: Artist & Participations Audits, Third Party Inquiries, and Rights Enforcement and Claims.
• The Third Party Inquiries Group is responsible for fielding and resolving the inquiries WMG receives from its recording artists, producers and other payees.
High Level Job Description: Perform research in royalty systems needed to address third party inquiries; update royalty systems as needed to resolve those inquiries; assist in processing payments resulting from those inquiries; respond to third parties in connection with inquiries.
Detailed Job Description/ Responsibilities:
• Conduct research within royalty systems/files pertaining to artist royalty claims, vendor payee change requests, estate claims
• Conduct research pertaining to IRS, tax or escheatment claims as they relate to royalty statements; liaise with A/P to collect info/data
• Work with IT and/or Finance to generate sales reports
• Review and revise set-up of existing accounts
• Make changes to existing accounts based on payee instructions and letters of direction
• Work with major U.S. label royalty teams, label finance, label BA, IT, A/P etc. to collect information, coordinate account changes
• Field incoming royalty-related inquiries and provide responses to the inquiring parties.
Required
Competencies/Skills:
• Comprehensive knowledge of EROS system; working knowledge of the legacy royalty systems used by WMG’s major U.S. labels;
• Understanding of contents and layout of royalty statements generated by EROS and legacy royalty systems;
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written);
• Team player who is able to multi-task, prioritize and ensure that deadlines are met; and
• Excellent organizational skills.
Education Required/Preferred:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
