High Level Job Description: The primary focus of the position is artist development. In other words, to create and execute proper, compelling marketing/digital timelines to sustainably grow artists in the creative and business arenas. This includes, but is not limited to, creating content, developing websites and social media accounts, shooting music videos, building online communities, leveraging social media and other digital marketing channels to drive those communities, graphic design (for singles, EPs and LPs), shooting photos, networking with blogs and other third parties, designing and creating promotional materials, executing ad campaigns, branding, media training, commissioning remixes, setting up studio time, and much more.
This position will be responsible for their own roster of artists and should have excellent communication skills. The right candidate understands, respects and loves music, marketing, promotion, as well as the challenges and complexities of the contemporary marketplace - music or otherwise. This person must be able to work in groups, as well as independently, excel under strict deadlines, multi-task, and properly prioritize.
Detailed Job Description/Responsibilities:
Develop and execute powerful marketing plans for roster of artists
Confirm requests are carried out intelligently and effectively with artists, management, and label team
Discover the artists' point of view to help find and grow their fan base
Build and execute digital marketing plans, including but not limited to social marketing, third party promotions, contests, and email/mobile marketing campaigns
Brainstorm and create exciting, ''cool'' and new online content (exclusive video content, artist journals, photo galleries, etc.) for artists to drive traffic and subscribers
Oversee artist social media accounts and promote content through online channels
Build strong and authentic artist and fan base pre-radio exposure with an outside-of-the-box approach
Provide focused, hands on, day-to-day attention to artists and managers
Set up, attend and contribute to all related company meetings in connection with assigned projects, and provide timely feedback and follow-up
Work directly with artists, managers and designers to create single, EP, LP and any/all touring/promotional artwork for digital and physical releases
Help artists create logos and other crucial branding elements with designers
Coordinate with our production, sales and WEA studio departments to deliver assets for our releases with optimal timing and promotional placement
Oversee and/or coordinate with label publicity staff to secure premieres, photo shoots, media training, bio writing, etc.
Oversee and plan official/viral videos with or without a video commissioner or production company
Required Competencies/Skills:
Excellent organizational ability
Able to multitask and prioritize workflow
Deep knowledge of contemporary and ''classic'' music scene and lifestyle
Creative marketing ideas
Working knowledge of interactive technologies and communication tools including email, social media platforms, and viral marketing techniques (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, SoundCloud, etc.)
Basic working knowledge of popular graphic design applications including Photoshop, InDesign, ImageReady and Illustrator
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and urgent tasks
Excellent verbal and writing skills
Strong attention to detail
Special Requirements/Preferences:
Project management
Digital marketing experience, 1-2 years
Music business experience, 1-2 years
Experience working directly with artists on social media or other digital campaigns
Computer skills: MS Office, Outlook, Photoshop, basic html, analytics tools, email and other marketing tools
Respect and understanding of the creative/artistic process
Education Required:
BS in Marketing, Communications, or similar
