About
Department Description: The Corporate Finance Department at WMG is responsible for overseeing all of the financial operations of the company in partnership with the finance groups within the individual affiliates. The department provides financial reporting, accounting, planning, budgeting, and financial compliance for the Company.
High Level Job Description: This position is part of the corporate FP&A department reporting into the Warner Music CFO. This role provides financial support and analysis to the corporate services departments with a primary focus on global Information Technology (IT), our largest corporate spend department. Primary responsibilities include forecasting, budgeting, financial operations, project cost tracking and monthly close.
Detailed Job Description/ Responsibilities:
• Provide financial support and analysis of financial results and performance for global Information Technology, including the annual budget, monthly forecasts and monthly close.
• Participate in the annual budget and monthly forecasting process working closely with the Information Technology senior leadership team including the EVP Technology and Business Processes to develop the annual Global Information Technology spend. The corporate services budget responsibilities include bottom up and top down budget development, budget presentation, tracking of actual results versus budget expenses and monthly forecasting.
• Track actual project costs against budget. Investigate and provide variance explanations between budget / forecast / actual.
• Ensure proper approval, coding, processing and closure of project documents, PO’s and invoices during the month and as part of the month end close. Work with the US Shared Services Accounting team to complete monthly close timely and accurately.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of financial models and business cases to support capital projects and investment, including determination of a return on investment (ROI). Investment proposals and related business case analysis often require Board of Director approval.
• Track and manage key financial data from third-party contracts and work closely with IT sourcing and procurement team to govern spend levels.
• Perform various ad-hoc reporting and analysis as requested by senior management.
Required Competencies/Skills:
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to work independently and in a team.
• Knowledge of basic accounting and finance.
• Strong organizational skills with ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Detail-oriented self-starter, who owns career and is accountable for managing own development.
• Commitment to follow-up on open action items/assignments and ability to meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and oral.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint applications.
• Experience with SAP or other large ERP systems preferred.
Education Required/Preferred:
• 1-3 years’ experience with budgeting, forecasting, account analysis, month-end activities, and vendor management, preferably in a technology-driven corporate environment.
• Bachelor’s degree required preferably in Accounting or Finance.
