WCM - Warner/Chappell Music, Inc Department Description: The Royalty Processing Department at Warner/Chappell music distributes all income associated with song detail, both manual and electronically to works in the Royalty system as well as providing support services in the form of research, reports and analysis to both the Administration and Finance departments.
High Level Job Description: Under general supervision, with latitude for independent judgment and decision, is responsible for directing the general royalty payable functions relating to disbursements to clients as well as directing the processing of domestic and international income.
Detailed Job Description/ Responsibilities (Include the following, other duties may be assigned):
• Directs the general royalty payable functions relating to disbursements to clients and heirs.
• Oversees the Canadian royalty payable functions and prepares Canadian royalty reconciliation schedules.
• Directs the review of quarterly statements, correction of data if necessary and preparation of adjustments and financial transactions.
• Conduct and/or direct the research of various company files or other sources for missing or incorrect information, updates material such as change of clients, ownership, estate settlements, addresses, rates, other agreements, manner of payments and supervises the amending of the computer data related to such.
• Directs the preparation of the annual unclaimed property report and foreign tax withholding statements.
• Liaise with various company departments to verify information or to obtain documentation needed relating to client inquiries.
• Performs royalty-related financial analysis as requested by Senior Management.
• Directs staff to perform special projects, such as income research, rate corrections, systems development and internal audits.
• Oversees various phases of incoming statements/payment processing and reconciliation.
• Reviews questions presented by processing staff, attempts problem resolution and present discrepancies and problematic issues to the attention of the department head for further review.
• Communicates with record companies, publishers, societies and agents regarding debit, credit, missing or other financial transactions affecting cash receipt and royalty processing reconciliations.
• Trains staff in technical skills, research and use of internal systems.
• Handles and safeguards confidential and proprietary information.
• Must be able to effectively communicate internally and/or externally in a manner consistent with the company’s Code of Conduct and core values.

• Must be able to read and understand materials and documents and have the ability to recognize and extract critical data and information.
• Must be able to perform all diverse physical tasks necessary to complete all the essential duties and responsibilities of the position.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of employees of department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include, but not limited to, interviewing; hiring and training employees; planning; assigning; and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Education/Experience Required:
• A baccalaureate degree with a major in accounting, finance or business administration and/or related systems is strongly preferred.
• A minimum of three to five (3-5) years of responsible professional experience in a royalties department or a related department within a music publishing related company and at least two (2) years of which shall have been in a supervisory capacity, or,
• A satisfactory equivalent of education, training and experience in related fields and/or educational disciplines, sufficient to qualify for the requirements of position.
