About Warner Music Nashville:
Warner Music Nashville was created in 2009 to expand the presence of Warner Music Group and its family of labels in Nashville. The division is home to Atlantic Records, Warner Bros. Records, Elektra Nashville and Word Entertainment.
High Level Job Description:
The attorney position requires 3-5 years of experience practicing transactional entertainment law, with at least some music business experience. The attorney will report to the Vice President, Head of Business & Legal Affairs. The attorney is responsible for negotiating and drafting agreements for all Warner Music Nashville labels, including Word Entertainment, as well as advising management and staff on rights issues.
Detailed Job Description/ Responsibilities:
•
Structure, negotiate, draft and review a wide variety of agreements for all WMN labels, including recording agreements, label deals, profit split deals, manufacturing and distribution agreements, soundtrack album agreements, and various types of licenses.
•
Liaise with other departments of the company to advise on rights issues and ensure compliance with contractual and legal obligations.
Review artwork, audio-visual materials and marketing materials to determine potential legal issues and assess the possible risks associated with their distribution; supervise clearance process.
•
Investigate and handle trademark and copyright issues.
•
Coordinate responses to claims and lawsuits with internal personnel and WMG counsel as necessary.
Review royalty statements of major artists and statements that are substantially payable to ensure accuracy.
•
Review mastering requests to ensure that releases have been cleared (or raise the issue of non-clearance with supervisor).
Required Competencies/Skills:
•
Strong drafting, negotiating, analytical, and organizational skills.
•
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to successfully interface with outside attorneys, senior management, and general staff.
•
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
•
Sound and practical business judgment.
•
Ability to multi-task and manage a high volume workload efficiently while balancing competing priorities.

Ability to work well in small, fast paced department.
Special Requirements/Preferences:
•
3–5 years transactional music business experience or other related experience preferred.
Education Required/Preferred:
• Must have J.D. from ABA-accredited law school and active license to practice law in Tennessee.
