WMG - Warner Music Group Department Description: WMG's Digital Strategy & Business Development team is responsible for driving the global digital revenues of the company. The team does this by working to understand how consumers listen to music today and how they will listen to music in the future. Digital strategy is then driven around this understanding. On a day to day basis, responsibilities include:
• Business development in the new media space: i.e. online, mobile, gaming, etc.
• Deal negotiation in conjunction with the digital legal team
• Analysis of new channels and revenue generating initiatives
• Development of strategy and new business models
• Identification of emerging technologies and consumer trends
High Level Job Description: The Strategy and Analysis team supports the department by compiling, analyzing and drawing conclusions from key research and data that is integral to driving strategy and business model development. An Analyst within the team will ideally be passionate about music’s future and also about the role that data and detailed analysis can play within that future.
Detailed Job Description/ Responsibilities:
• Analysis of key partners
• Continuous analysis of data from partners (e.g., Google, Apple, Amazon, Spotify, Deezer, etc.) to understand key trends within the digital music space
• Communication of findings both to the BD team as a whole, as well as key members of WMG (e.g., c-suite, label heads, etc.)
• Liaise with WMG’s data and research team
• Open dialogue with top members of key partner teams to discuss trends in data and analysis
• Emerging technologies and consumer trends
• Closely monitor fast-changing developments in the online digital and social media space
• Communicate new technology and consumer trend information to BD
• Provide recommendations
• Strategy and business models
• Work with BD to consistently update WMG’s digital strategy and business models as the consumer and partner landscape changes
Required
Competencies/Skills:
• Detail focused with excellent Excel (VBA is a plus) and PowerPoint skills
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely data-driven analysis as well as overall strategy
• Aptitude in managing multiple projects
Education Required/Preferred:
• Bachelor's Degree from a top university
