Warner Bros. Entertainment seeks a Manager, Human Resources. This position will provide hands on HR support for the Digital Networks Group (DNG) by applying best-in-class HR principles around business planning, recruitment, performance management, employee relations, legal compliance, etc. The HR manager will be a key HR partner for multiple DNG businesses including Machinima Inc, Stage 13, Digital Media Sales, and Drama Fever and will support growth strategies through HR activities, programs and initiatives.
What will you be doing?
• Interpret and implement HR policies, practices and company philosophy to ensure effective administration of the same. Maintain current knowledge of state and federal legislation and regulations pertinent to the employee population and ensures corporate compliance.
• Work with managers to help define and clarify roles and responsibilities. Partner with management regarding department organization and staff responsibilities to ensure effective utilization of resources. Review job descriptions and provide guidance and feedback regarding levels. Ensure consistency of levels across client groups. Partner with Corp Compensation to level positions.
• Oversee recruitment process for the businesses. Work with business leaders to set and maintain hiring plans under WB corporate objectives. Utilize a combination of in-house, contract and agency recruiters to effectively manage recruitment needs. Work with recruiters on compensation issues throughout the recruitment process. Proactively identify issues and works with compensation and recruiters to implement strategies to attract/retain top talent. Review salary justifications against compensation ranges, market data and internal comparators and works with compensation to obtain necessary approvals.
• Oversee the performance management process through partnerships with management and executive staff. Coach management on how to best communicate expectations and performance feedback on an ongoing basis. Develop performance plans to correct performance deficiencies, write disciplinary documentation, partner with employment attorneys and handles necessary terminations.
• Work with managers and employees to ensure consistency of ongoing performance appraisal process. Educate management regarding the appraisal process and performance measurement criteria to ensure consistent application of the programs. Communicate timelines and measure completion, addressing any issues and ensuring consistency. Oversee the administration of the annual merit and bonus programs to ensure equity.
• Handle employee relations issues in a timely and effective fashion. Counsel employees and/or managers regarding a variety of issues. Serve as advocate to both employee and company regarding policies, employee performance, work environment and conflict issues. Serve as primary contact for receiving and investigating employee concerns. Conduct thorough and impartial investigations and determines solutions and/or necessary action.
• Maintain accuracy of personnel records and HRIS data with the highest level of confidentiality and discretion. Manage ongoing needs related to employment eligibility (e.g. visas and other documentation). Ensure employee records are kept up to date and oversee the creation and dissemination of regular reports and organizational charts. Perform updates in the HRIS system as changes to employee statuses occur. Perform ad hoc reconciliation projects as needed.
• Work with department managers on temporary staffing needs. Understand and analyze resource justifications and work with client groups and Corp (where necessary) executives to secure necessary approvals for justified needs.
• Respond to employee inquiries, issues and problems relating to compensation, benefits, leaves of absence, etc. and ensure timely and appropriate action.
• Update job knowledge by participating in conferences and educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
What do we require from you?
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
• 5 years of HR experience.
• Prior experience with an emerging/growing business preferred.
• Prior experience working in a large multinational company preferred.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills required.
• Current knowledge of state and federal employment-related legislation required.
• Solid understanding games or software development preferred.
• Strong technology skills - proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.
