(Executive) Director Human Resources, WBITVP
Primary Purpose of Position
• Act as a partner and trusted advisor to the WBITVP senior management team, challenging the status quo, influencing and debating strategic issues. Play a key role providing input and acting as a sounding board for key business decisions.
• In conjunction with the SVP International HR provides HR leadership, direction and coordination to WBITVP operations internationally. In conjunction with International and regional HR specialists and Employment Legal team oversees all human resources activities including recruitment and selection, performance appraisal, training and development, OD, compensation and benefits, labour relations, HR administration and payroll. Ensures that the HR service meets the business needs, focusing on objectives, culture and best practice.
• Specifically, serves as the first point of call for all HR activities in WBITVP (whether related to the London HQ, WBTVP UK or the other local Opcos); in conjunction with the SVP International HR determines whether action/support is required from Corporate HR, or the corresponding local HR team; and ensures that such support is provided adequately and in a timely manner in order to resolve each issue as required by WBITVP.
• In conjunction with the VP OD create a strategy to retain key people within acquired businesses and to ensure succession plans are in place for key people.
• Serves as strategic and tactical advisor to WBITVP senior management for the various functional HR areas in particular on issues related to headcount approval, freelancer policies, goal setting, retention, and organizational design.
• As and when directed by Corporate HR management ensures the timely roll-out of international projects.
• Plays a leading role in the implementation of Group Policies and related systems, to align with and support WBITVP strategic business objectives.
• Develops innovative local TV production-related HR programs & initiatives in coordination with Corporate HR and local HR teams to position WBITVP as an employer of choice.
• Manage the talent agenda and ensure the business attracts the best people to deliver its business plans.
• Design and deliver an appropriate engagement strategy for a business with both permanent and flexible workforce in a global setting, making sure it doesn't conflict with any Global engagement initiatives.
Essential job functions
• Participates in business planning and strategic direction.
• Provides assistance and direction in HR planning to management teams in each WBITVP local Opco, including WBTVP UK.
• Together with the SVP International HR, manages from an HR perspective the senior executive population for the WBITVP local Opcos (recruitment, development, C&B issues, coaching/counselling, employee relations).
• In conjunction with the SVP International HR and in partnership with the local Corporate HR teams (as applicable), ensures that WB key processes are properly implemented and managed across WBITVP, including:
• Performance Planning & Review
• Total reward Planning (salary review process)
• Talent Review (succession planning & high potentials identification/development
• Where appropriate customises existing Human Resources processes to deliver local TV production-relevant solutions within corporate guidelines and procedures.
• Identifies business needs, ensures timely response to all HR issues and initiate appropriate action by coordinating with Corporate HR and local HR teams.
• Collates and develops job descriptions for each position and organisation charts with local HR teams.
• Maintains the Workday system in respect of all employee data. Ensures that centralised personnel records and data including salary history, bonus information and other pertinent information are updated in a timely manner in partnership with local HR teams.
• Coordinates with Corporate HR and local HR teams to monitor external employment trends, local legislation and socio-economic trends (territory-by-territory).
Education
• MBA or equivalent in HR field required.
Knowledge/Skills
• Must have ability to deal with all levels of employees and management.
• Effective communication and persuasive skills required.
• Strong relationship-building skills with high emotional intelligence skills.
• Must be able to perform in a high-pressure, fast paced environment.
• A thorough understanding of strategic and tactical business plans and the human resource implications of those plans are essential.
Person Specification
• Deep expertise in all areas of Human Resources
• International HR experience
• Extensive experience in Human Resources required, preferably in a generalist capacity and ideally with exposure to local TV production activities.
• Understanding of acquisitions from a people perspective is essential and prior experience of post-acquisition integration would be preferred
• Must be organised and be able to resolve problems diplomatically and effectively.
• Able to deal with stress and conflict and confrontational situations.
• Able to deal with ambiguity and complex situations.
• Tenacious, 'hands on' individual who enjoys being part of the business
