Rendering Technology - Software Engineer or Sr. Software Engineer
Is it your passion to build cutting-edge rendering technologies enabling hundreds of artists to create world-class animation such as Frozen and Big Hero 6?
Our internally developed next-generation GI renderer allows us to combine believable virtual worlds and appealing characters with the physics of light, handling scenes of massive complexity with unprecedented ease. One of the key innovations is described in our EGSR 2013 paper, Sorted Deferred Shading for Production Path Tracing. The results are apparent in Big Hero 6.
Our plans call for advancing this renderer in many exciting ways, and we are looking to add one more talented developer to our small, highly collaborative team. Ideal candidates will be motivated and skilled at finding simple, elegant solutions to complex problems, and enjoy working as part of a high-energy, professional team using an agile development methodology.
Team members are highly supportive of each other, encouraged to self-manage, and learn through experiencing both success and failure. You must therefore be comfortable supporting your team by bringing fresh insight for shared problem solving. Also critical to success in this role is an aptitude for working directly with technical and non-technical users to understand their workflow, requirements, and pain points to deliver relevant solutions.
Requirements
• Experience developing global illumination related rendering technologies
• At least one year of development experience using C ; C 11 experience desired
• Experience with development of high-performance code using SIMD and multi-threading strongly desired
• Exemplary communication and team working skills
• BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or other related field; MS/PhD preferred
