Full Time Job
The SVP, Media Technology will manage and operate WWE's Internet based digital content delivery. The successful candidate will be responsible for digital content delivery, software development, integration with 3rd party CDN partners, load and capacity planning, troubleshooting, monitoring and reliability of the delivery infrastructure.
The Senior Vice President, Media Technology will work closely with the SVP of Digital Products and the SVP of Digital Content to translate needs and requirements into working solutions that are scalable to meet the ever changing needs of WWE and its viewers. This person will oversee the development to ensure seamless delivery of media content across all device platforms.
In addition to helping provide oversight for the Network, this position will lead the internal development and QA team for WWE.com and all other digital properties (WWE App, Tough Enough, etc.).
Key Responsibilities:
• Build, lead and leverage from existing resources, a functional team to deploy, operate and maintain a highly available and scalable distribution system that will deliver multi-screen video and associated content.
• Troubleshoot delivery network problems, identify root causes, and implement remediation strategies.
• Participate in technical decisions to improve network infrastructure and security.
• Monitor delivery network performance and design/implement plans for trouble identification.
• Responsible for maintaining distribution architecture documentation, including origin servers, storage, network, and monitoring design.
• Establish requirements for network, firewall, and load balancing as it pertains to distribution networks.
• Implement 3rd party CDN monitoring, measurement and alarming tools with collection of data for historical and real time performance metrics.
• Continually improve the tools and processes required for real-time systems monitoring and alerting of distribution networks.
• Implement Disaster Recovery processes to ensure seamless content distribution from alternate site(s).
• Evaluate various 3rd party equipment and solutions to best suit business requirements.
• Develop and maintain an excellent working relationship with cross-functional teams, clients, vendors and technology partners.
• Meet individual & organizational performance objectives and business challenges associated with the position.
• Define project tasks and resource requirements and coordinate with 3rd parties.
• Assist in project budgets for distribution network expansion and upgrades.
• Coordinate development and creation of necessary formal requirements and functional documents.
• Work closely with other departments as needed to support master projects requirements.
Qualifications:
Ideal Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate has extensive knowledge of internet architectures, high availability, distributed IP network design, 3rd party CDN integration, coupled with the ability to be hands-on with testing and troubleshooting.
In addition we seek:
• Prior experience in the digital media/VOD/content distribution industry.
• Significant knowledge of CDN technology and architectures.
• In-depth knowledge of Internet protocols, especially TCP/IP, HTTP(S), FTP, SFTP, IGMP, SSH and DNS.
• Experience with various models of content delivery such as HTTP, HLS, HDS, progressive download, Flash/RTMP(E).
• Hands on working knowledge with network troubleshooting tools such as ping, tracert, mtr, dig, wireshark, netstat, if/ipconfig, etc.
• Strong network hardware skills, including experience with firewalls, load balancers, and switches/routers.
• Experience with commonly used web servers such as IIS and Apache.
• Solid grasp of infrastructure security and best practices.
• Fluent in Unix/Linux and Windows system administration.
• Experience with Drupal, Java Script as well as IP acceleration platforms.
• Proficient in use of Jira and Confluence for issue tracking knowledge base.
• Superb communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Flexibility to work in an extremely fast-paced environment.
• Experience in digital media industry (e.g., internet, video, and broadband).
• Highly skilled in time management to facilitate involvement in multiple projects.
• 5 years experience in IP network architecture and support.
• Self-directed and the ability to work independently and manage communications up and down.
• Must be fluent in technical documentation and diagramming.
• Excellent business and communication skills (written and verbal).
Education:
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or relevant related field.
