WWE is seeking a Metadata Specialist as a key participant in the establishment of a new Enterprise Metadata Management department within the Corporate Strategy and Analytics group. The work will include: the development of a metadata governance structure; defining internal standards and policies; and the evaluation, selection and implementation of a toolkit. Reporting to the Vice President, Enterprise Metadata Management, the chosen candidate will partner with metadata stewards from business units across the enterprise, including the Archive and video and photo library groups, to develop and implement robust content description as part of a cross-domain master data layer. The metadata ecosystem will be foundational to innovative work in UX, analytics, media asset management, and file-based workflows, and support a fast-growing company that is at the forefront of embracing new distribution channels and social media.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaboration & Governance
• Enable an enterprise data strategy by supporting data strategy directives, including requirements gathering
• Work directly with all WWE business units to define and support business processes around metadata accuracy and quality, updating as necessary
• Collaborate and communicate with nontechnical staff and stakeholders
Data management, quality, and standards
• Manage metadata flow and oversee day-to-day metadata and data quality operations, including metrics gathering and reporting
• Principal in the development, testing, and ongoing management of WWE enterprise metadata model, taxonomy, and metadata specifications
• Lead the development of business processes for creation, validation, engagement, and publishing of metadata
• Monitor relevant standards and participate in internal and external standards and specification development
Development, implementation, and management enterprise taxonomy and metadata
• Conduct analysis of existing data models, taxonomies and specifications, business processes, and technology to identify necessary changes and plan for implementation
• Facilitate and manage taxonomy development and administration, including discovery/analysis, testing/feedback cycles, and governance
• Define processes specific for each type of metadata and establish a formal metadata integration process
• Design and integrate changes to the metadata model to support data governance initiatives, including development, testing, and management
• Provide ongoing support for new data initiatives across WWE
Qualifications:
• Degree in Library Science, Archival Science, Data/Computer Science, related field of study, or equivalent experience
• Advanced degree a plus
• 3 years of experience in data management
• Experience with logical, physical, and dimensional data modeling specific to creating and implementing operational metadata schemas and models
• Experience developing and implementing business rules for data migration and integration
• Experience in the development, implementation, and management of taxonomies, formal ontologies, and other types of controlled vocabularies
• Familiarity with database design, data warehousing, big data, data management vendor solutions, and data management standards, tools and technologies (e.g. SQL, NoSQL, XML, RDF, etc.)
• Familiarity with relevant media and broadcast metadata, file format, and identifier standards (e.g. EIDR, CableLabs, PBCore, EBU Core) preferred
• Previous media asset management, television production, post-production, broadcast and/or non-linear distribution experience a plus
• Familiarity with WWE and sports entertainment a plus
• Applicable data experience in other sectors (e.g. health or finance) will also be considered
