Reporting to the General Manager of WWE UK and Ireland, the Director, Commercial Marketing will support the GM in managing and growing the business in WWE's most successful and mature market outside of the USA. This new role will be based in WWE's London office.
The Director, Commercial Marketing will be responsible for helping to identify approaches to partnerships and strategies to enable targeted business growth and achieve WWE's broader strategic objectives. With a focus on brand, marketing, strategic partnership development and execution of related brand and business plans, the role will require the individual to work across all Lines Of Business (LOB) including Television, Live Events, Brand and Marketing, Communications, Sponsorship, Digital and Licensing & Merchandising.
The Director, Commercial Marketing will also be responsible for supporting the GM across other commercial areas, identify and executing revenue generating initiatives and business alliances, closing deals, assisting with management strategies and general efficiencies in day to day business operations and team contributions.
Responsibilities
• Brand and Marketing
• Analyze WWE brand and marketing performance in the context of the overall market – areas of excellence, challenges and opportunities
• Make strategic recommendations about growing the brand and generating positive impacts though sustainable communications and marketing activity and present as a business plan complete with measures of success and timelines
• Work with the GM and business heads to activate and manage the plan to help grow brand awareness and positive perception across consumer, business, media and public sectors
• Present a broader marketing plan complete with benchmarks and timelines and recommendations of best use of budget across all product lines (Live Events, Network, PPV, Talent, Brand) for both planned and reactive spends
• Develop alliances outside of traditional relationship areas to further develop brand and business goals, including sports, entertainment, music, fashion, retail, politics, culture, arts, community etc.
• Regular reporting on WWE's brand strength and market position and the brand plans impact across all media, consumer and business touch points
• Regular review and assessment of overall market conditions
• Partner Management
• Day-to-day business dealings with partners, particularly with TV Networks, PPV Platforms and the Network, plus Sponsors, Consumer Product Group, Live Event partners, Media etc.
• New Business
• Originate, solicit and negotiate new business with potential partners across all lines of business in conjunction with LOB heads
• Internal Management
• Aid with leadership and management of all LOB's in the UK market as required
• Facilitating effective Matrix reporting and inter department contribution and communication
• Business Planning and Reporting
• Work with all cross functional heads (Content and Media, Live Events, Consumer Product Group, Digital, Sponsorship, Retail) to review and finalize strategies and objectives for the UK and Ireland and help deliver plans
• Partner with GM UK and Ireland and LOB Heads to review and update internal Market Assessments and local strategies and supporting documentation
• Monthly reporting on business results and KPI status
Qualifications
• BA degree
• Highly brand and marketing literate with experience of working with recognized sports, entertainment and/or consumer brands
• Experience with a Broadcast, Live Events or a major Rights Holder preferred
• Existing history of excellent contacts and good working relationships with national representatives in the live entertainment and related industries
• Proven ability to deliver on business goals, displaying a commercial mindset and a strong entrepreneurial spirit
• Able to demonstrate a results driven work ethic and goal oriented approach
• Comfortable in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and thrives on multi-tasking and problem solving
• A credible communicator who can influence at the most senior level
• Team player, with proven ability to lead and create consensus among multiple business lines
• Demonstrable ability to think strategically and structurally
• Adept with audience and market insight and able to analyze and translate market dynamics into business actions
• Proficient in project management to include the use of Microsoft Office and other relevant software
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
• Must be flexible with working nights, weekends, and holidays
