The Architect, Digital Technology is the subject matter expert focused on designing applications, interfaces, and software services to maximize reuse, performance, and scalability across WWE's consumer facing digital products that span virtually every consumer platform including: web, mWeb, native apps, wired, and connected devices, and gaming consoles. This role will be a key thought leader for evaluating new technologies and solutions and will partner with the software development and product leaders to design products and solutions for WWE's fans. Our environment is dynamic, fast-paced, and lots of fun. This role is a key member of the Media Technology team and will report to the Vice President, Media Technology.
Key Responsibilities:
• Be a thought leader and give architectural direction to multiple teams of engineers, contractors, and vendor partners across multiple platforms (e.g., desktop web, mWeb, native mobile apps, wired and connected devices, and gaming consoles)
• Assist in the evaluation of new partners, products, and services
• Be a thought leader on architecture and technical strategy; lead technology innovation for both internal processes and consumer facing digital products
• Lead select key initiatives for the Media Technology team, especially in the design and evaluation stage of product design and development
• Keep abreast of industry trends and technology, evaluate and benchmark new technologies, recommend what would be relevant for WWE, and develop practical plans to adopt and implement new technology initiatives
• Work with product management, design, and senior leadership to define and develop features on the product roadmap
• Mentor team members, especially software developers, that have the desire and skills to take on more technical responsibilities
• Maintain a passion for software development and assist developers with debugging code and problem solving as required
• Occasional early morning, evening, and weekend work
Qualifications:
• 3 years managing or supervising an application development and/or software engineering team
• Bachelor degree in Computer Science (or related technical field) preferred
• Prior experience as an Application/Software architect
• Strong understanding of multi-tier web architectures, and OO design patterns and concepts
• Strong understanding of server side software, scalability, performance, and reliability
• Expertise in multiple of the following technologies: Amazon Web Services (or similar cloud computing technology), LAMP Tech Stack, MySQL, PHP, JavaScript, Java, HTML5/CSS3, Objective-C
• A strong understanding of Content Management Systems (i.e. Drupal, WordPress, etc.)
• A strong understanding of Responsive Web Design
• A sound understanding of RESTful web services
• Be able to confidently express the benefits and constraints of technology solutions to technology partners, stakeholders, team members, and senior levels of management
• Experience with GitHub or similar version control tools
• Familiarity with agile development methodologies preferred
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
• Prior experience with native mobile application development (i.e. iOS, Android)
• Experience with online video and OTT products
• Experience evaluating and integrating 3rd party APIs, including SDKs for social networks, advertising, and analytics
• Experienced working with an interdisciplinary team; experience working in matrix environment preferred
