The Rights Administration Manager manages the company's nascent rights management system and is responsible for the tracking and assessment of rights information for all program content produced, commissioned or acquired by WNET, and for providing accurate reporting and inventory management. In addition, the Rights Administration Manager is responsible for enforcing this contract lifecycle process with inter- and intra-departmental staff, including producers, attorneys and all project stakeholders; managing the collection and reporting of all data; and ensuring the safekeeping of information for compliance and the exploitation of revenue-generating opportunities. Additional specific responsibilities include:
• Develop and refine policies and procedures for the capture and safe- keeping of all rights clearance and licensing information;
• Enforce all procedures and monitor overall system performance for compliance throughout the lifecycle process;
• Manage back-end system workflow rules, data lists, user rights and other technical aspects of the rights management system;
• Serves as a technical liaison to internal customers, internal IT and external system developers;
• Oversees system user workflow and enters rights data as needed;
• Develops and manages system reporting for internal customers;
• Trains users and validates rights data inputted to system;
• Provides reporting and analysis upon request from both system user base and senior management;
• Works closely with Royalty Accounting to ensure that all contracts have been entered on time;
• Works closely with Distribution to identify revenue-generating opportunities;
• Works closely with Archives to link rights metadata to physical assets;
• Independently reviews existing information and system data for integrity and opportunistic use; Works with Rights & Clearances colleagues to research and discover under-exploited program assets for entry into the Rights Management system;
Qualified candidates will have a BA/BS or equivalent experience, familiarity with rights and clearances in the context of broadcast media, and proficiency with databases. In addition, candidates should have a working knowledge of production, distribution, talent, music and third party agreements. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary, as are excellent organization and analytical skills.
Candidates must have technical competencies with: rights management technology solutions and database structure, broadcast management systems, Microsoft SharePoint, SQL Reporting Services.
