Overview:
The Vice President, Information Technology works with all business & technology stakeholders - both leadership and subject matter experts-to design a holistic, technology agnostic view of the organization's strategy, business processes and information assets.? This position is expected to understand the complexities of the organization, processes, information, and technologies then design and execute against a technology roadmap to realize the organizational strategy
The Vice President, Information Technology leads the functional departments which develop, implement and maintain the overall technical IT architecture including Production and Corporate Data Center's with their related infrastructure (network, servers, storage, virtualization platforms, and peripheral equipment). This individual will provide technical leadership and consulting across the organization, from strategic decision making down to the project planning and execution level.
Responsibilities:
Summary of essential job functions:
• Lead strategic technological planning, as it relates to applications, data and infrastructure and distributed systems, to help achieve business goals by prioritizing technology initiatives and coordinating the evaluation, development, deployment, and management of current and future technologies.
• Ensure continuous delivery of technical services through oversight of service level agreements with staff and vendor partners and monitoring of systems, programs, applications, hardware, and equipment performance.
• Document and develop in-depth knowledge of company's existing IT architecture, data infrastructure, and overall technology portfolio.
• Develop and manage an application, data and infrastructure 3 year plan. Develop, document, communicate, and enforce a technology standards policy.
• Oversee applications, data and operations-related projects and project portfolios and related budgets.
• Analyze existing operations and make recommendations for the improvement and growth of the application, data and infrastructure and IT systems.
• Conduct research on emerging technologies in support of application, data and infrastructure development efforts, and recommend technologies that will increase cost effectiveness and infrastructure flexibility.
• Develop, document, make recommendations, and communicate plans for investing in IT application, data and infrastructure, including analysis of cost reduction opportunities.
• Review new and existing IT projects, systems designs, and procurement/outsourcing plans for compliance with IT standards and architectural plans.
• Develop and execute test plans to check and maintain/monitor application, data and infrastructure and applications & systems technical performance..
• Effectively manage all vendor partners related to application, data and infrastructure, operations services.
Key tasks and processes overseen:
• Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of IT systems, including networks, data centers, servers, PCs, operating systems, security equipment, and associated hardware.
• Manage operations staffing, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, and disciplinary actions.
• Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives.
• Approve purchase of equipment and supplies in order to meet operational requirements of the business.
• Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the organization's executives, department heads, and end users regarding pertinent IT activities.
Qualifications:
Minimum requirements:
• Significant experience running an IT operations staff (Unix, Windows, System Administration, Storage, Network and Site Support)
• Must have current proficiency in three or more of the following disciplines (Network Engineering, System Engineering, Storage Engineering, Enterprise Architecture and/or Project Management).
• Proven experience in IT applications, data, infrastructure planning and development.
• Strong understanding of project management principles.
• Hands-on experience with business requirements gathering/analysis.
• Proven experience in systems design and development.
• Excellent technical architecture, infrastructure and technical support documentation skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language.
• Ability to conduct research into emerging technologies and trends, standards, and products as required.
• Highly self-motivated and directed.
• Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
• Extensive experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
• Superior written and oral communication skills.
• University degree (Masters preferred) in and not less than 10 years related work experience.
• Certifications and/or relevant experience in architecture development, service management, networking, security, project management and Virtualization/Cloud Computing.
Abilities required:
• Good at managing, setting expectations and delivering projects
• Highly organized self-starter with an eye for detail who can maintain multiple ongoing projects simultaneously
• Entrepreneurial, flexible attitude with ability to work well in ambiguous, changing situations and reprioritize work accordingly
• Strong interpersonal and clear communication skills (verbal and written)
