Overview:
The Senior Content Engineer is the key technical liaison between Vubiquity and our Customers. The Senior Content Engineer is responsible for Client Onboarding, Digital Media Systems and Rejections associated with the DETE platform. Duties include, but are not limited to; the Onboarding of new clients, video rejection management and resolution, in addition to scheduling and queue management for the DETE service. The Senior Content Engineer serves as the conduit for B2B and DTC digital strategies as an escalation resource for management, operations and our Customers. Onboarding of new video clients, digital video solutions, and managing rejections are core to the success of the DETE platform and to Vubiquity. It is critical that our client onboarding, video specifications and solutions are the most efficient to ensure our products have the highest quality and are well received in the market and with our partners. The Senior Content Engineer must work closely with the Operations, Mastering and the encoding teams to identify trends and minimize client rejections.
Responsibilities:
-Onboard clients to DETE and communicating with identified recipient contacts, creation of specifications, test files, and creation of client profiles. Operate efficiently while developing professional expertise in a fast paced agile environment where operational priorities change quickly.
-Maintain the client onboarding schedule. Work with internal stakeholders and recipients to establish delivery timing. Assign tasks to the various engineers based on the schedule and customer need. Ensure timely delivery of work product to meet the schedule. Escalate scheduling issues to management.
-Manage the rejections queue. Work with internal stakeholders to assign priority. Assign rejections to engineers for review as appropriate. Ensure prompt resolution and client satisfaction.
-Perform Digital Video Engineering duties including creation of ingest specifications and workflows for incoming media, creation of delivery specifications and workflows for recipients and emerging distribution outlets, review digital video issues and non-standard workflow issues and provide analysis/recommendations.
-As a Digital Video Subject Matter Expert (SME) participate in R&D activities including the optimization/creation of video specs, research new video/audio technologies and solutions in the marketplace, work with video leads throughout the company to create, establish, and adopt technical standards, and work with external vendors to validate configurations, solutions, and outputs.
-Perform as the escalation resource for the engineers. Assist with problem resolution and escalations.
-Provide oversight for the onboarding activities or digital media projects.
-Prepare reporting to management to include performance, utilization, rejections and others as required
-Other duties as assigned
-Troubleshoot a variety of technical and operational issues while applying company policies and procedures. Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of multiple content processing platforms and their integration into operational workflows.
-Maintain media encoding, transcoding platforms and analysis platforms, to ensure the highest accuracy, stability, performance and quality.
-Establish and maintain operational capacity metrics for all media processing platforms to include encoding, transcoding, editing and analysis.
-Designs, creates and documents transcoding workflows for production deployment and facilitates workflow initial and ongoing training for Operational Departments.
-Interact with development, product management, business analyst, enterprise architecture, QA, and support teams throughout the product development lifecycle and continue in an ongoing operational product support role supporting all aspect of media processing.
-Stay up to date with CODEC specifications, media compression platforms, media analysis platforms and software technologies.
-Research new concepts, methods, and technologies relevant to media processing and distribution architectures
-Scheduling and assignment of tasks
-Prioritization of rejections review
-Digital video specifications, tooling and processes necessary to meet immediate business needs
-Documentation of digital video issues through our ServiceNow work order ticketing system
-Provide weekly / as-needed status reports
-Participate in internal and external business calls and meetings
-An understanding of various video encoding software and hardware, including:
Amberfin iCR
Digital Rapids StreamZ
Apple Compressor
Apple Final Cut Pro
Ffmpeg
Snell Alchemist, Ukon
Telestream Flip Factory
-Working knowledge of various video tape decks including:
Sony HDCAM SR, DBC, BetaCam SP
Panasonic D5
Ampex DCT
-Understanding of professional audio tools such as ProTools and Audacity for analysis and troubleshooting
-Understanding of file transfer tools such as Aspera, Signiant, SCP, SFTP, etc.
-Understanding of digital content distribution/servicing
-Written and oral communication skills to communicate in a manner that is clear, well organized, informative, and persuasive
-Facilitation and presentation skills, including presentations to senior management
-Demonstrated reporting skills
Qualifications:
-B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent experience
-5 years experience with video hardware/software systems, formats, and codecs
-2 years experience with project management
-2 years experience with resource scheduling preferred
-Basic experience troubleshooting video encoding, transcode and playback issues, to include:
-Technical file evaluation
-Bitrate optimization for playback and delivery
-Advanced experience constructing video profiles to optimize performance, delivery and sustainability.
-A working knowledge of media asset management systems
-3+ years of experience with video/audio codecs MPEG-4/h.264, h.265, MPEG-2, VC1, ProRes required.
-Basic experience with Linux and Windows
-Knowledge of transcoding platforms, Elemental, Vantage, Agility, ATEME and Digital Rapids
-Knowledge of Analysis platforms, Sencore and Baton
-Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
-Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously while adhering to strict deadlines
