Vice President, Business and Legal Affairs
Key Responsibilities:
• Drafting, reviewing, negotiating and concluding international and domestic license agreements for the sale of feature films and television for theatrical, home entertainment and television exploitation.
• Assisting with and undertaking any other activities within the legal & business affairs department as reasonably required.
• Liaising with the contracts and rights teams to confirm availability and rights positions.
Qualifications/Professional Certificates, Abilities and Characteristics, and Work Experience Required:
• Qualified lawyer with preferably 5 yrs experience working in a media distribution business.
• Self-starter with good judgement and confident decision-making skills to apply to all work responsibilities including drafting, reviewing, negotiating, analyzing and concluding agreements within the stated deadlines.
• Ability to prioritize under direction from senior executives, multi-task, collaborate, and engage in a manner that drives the business forward.
• An effective communicator, both written and verbal with knowledge of the terms and market conditions impacting the worldwide independent film and television industry.
• Ability to resolve problems under pressure and make accurate assessments of critical issues.
• Demonstrate enthusiasm, commitment to proactivity, the ability to grasp new areas quickly and rise to a challenge.
• Strong technical commercial law and copyright law experience.
• Understanding of breakdown of licensed rights in television programming and films.
• Proven track record of concluding deals successfully and quickly.
