We are excited to announce that we currently have a position open for a Vendor Manager, in our Language Services Department, located in Burbank, California.
Candidates must be highly motivated, with superior work ethic and ability to adhere to strict delivery deadlines, with minimal direct supervision. Must be able to perform in a fast paced environment and lead a team in resolving challenges in a positive and productive manner.
Position Overview
The Vendor Manager supports the Language Services Department by being responsible for managing translator and vendor relations. This includes negotiation of rates, setup of new vendors and translators to support growth, investigation into new territories for expansion and working with the stakeholders to implement improvements in production. The position is based in the Burbank facility and will report in to the Director of Language Services. This position is a new addition to the VDMS Team.
Responsibilities
• Key responsibility is to ensure the department meets its financial goals whilst maintaining a good relationship with all our partners and assist in the growth of the business
• Rate negotiation
• Project volume planning
• Coordinate all aspects of testing and onboarding
• New territory growth, locating and setting up new independent contractors and vendors
• The role works closely with the Quality Manager role to ensure we are tracking and analyzing contractor and vendor performance
• Auditing of ongoing projects to ensure they are hitting the financial targets that were anticipated
• Work with international internal personnel as well as vendors and translators
• Represent the quality aims of the department and ensure excellent communication with other departments
• Oversee the timely completion of all day to day work being performed within the Project Coordination Team
• Uphold strong relationship with operations in Burbank, London, and Bangalore.
• Work closely with other department coordinators, leads, supervisors and managers to understand and follow through with daily priorities
• Understand client specs and provide guidance to make sure all needs are met
• Maintain an awareness of Visual Data's culture and ensure that we are working towards the company's core values and mission statement
• Represent and uphold all operational processes, policies and procedures and maintain an exceptional level of service for our customers
• Assist Director of Language Services in meeting department goals
• Undertake additional department duties as required
Desired Skills and Experience
• Previous experience of negotiating with vendors and / or independent contractors, getting the best deals
• 2+ years of subtitling, captioning and / or media distribution experience preferred but not essential
• Project planning experience
• Previous experience of dealing with international stakeholders
• Previous experience of dealing with customers, internal and external
• Results oriented with strong attention to detail
• Excellent interpersonal and both written and verbal communication skills
• Strong multi-tasker with experience in organizing and managing multiple projects and priorities
• Strong ability to work unsupervised, at a fast pace in a calm and collected manner
• Ability to problem solve quickly, make decisions based in limited information and take corrective action as needed
• Ability to manage client expectations and juggle multiple priorities
• Ability to identify areas of improvement and inefficiency
