New York based international film sales company seeks a manager of acquisitions for feature film and documentary acquisitions work. Duties will include but not be limited to covering and scouting for projects from producers, agents, directors, film festivals and works in progress events. Work will be done at script, post-production and completed film stages.
The company typically acquires 10-12 films per year and the candidate will be responsible for negotiating and finalizing deals with the rights owners for a number of films each year. Candidate will manage a number of interns and organize the acquisitions process and workflow for the company. Basic contract work and knowledge of legal language helpful. Self-motivated and organized candidates will excel.
The job requires heavy travel to various events and festivals throughout the world. Fluency in additional languages is extremely useful. A love of arthouse cinema is a must. Demonstrated ability to analyze and use critical thinking skills in determining the festival and market value of film is imperative.
