Senior Financial Analyst
Position Description
Reporting to: COO and CFO
Company: Village Roadshow Entertainment Group
Location: Los Angeles
Position Objective
To provide quality and timely financial analysis, information and reporting to management to facilitate an improved decision-making environment.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities of the Position include, but are not limited to:
• Preparation of Film Feasibility and Film Ultimates analysis;
• Preparation and maintenance of detailed financial models;
• Assist the FP&A team with overall business model, project work and ad hoc financial analysis;
• Financial analysis and reporting for VREG Asia division;
• Provide ad hoc financial analysis and support to the Executive team;
• Prepare and update PowerPoint presentations;
• M&A deal support and Due Diligence support;
• Continuous process improvement, including the streamlining of existing processes and the upgrade of existing financial models.
The successful applicant needs to demonstrate:
• Understanding of film ultimates, talent participations and film economics;
• Proven analytical skills and ability to grasp concepts quickly;
• Strong attention to detail who takes ownership of work;
• Ability to be 'in the weeds' on modelling but also evaluate the issues on a 'big picture' basis;
• Excellent Excel and modelling skills;
• Persistence and a focus on accuracy, results and outcomes;
• Proactive self-starter with strong desire to learn;
• Ability to approach problems and situations pro-actively and methodically;
• Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and remain poised under pressure;
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and quick turnaround times on analyses and modelling;
• Flexible, nimble, and ability to work effectively with various levels of management.
SELECTION CRITERIA
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate Village Roadshow Entertainment Group's Core Competencies.
• Contributing to the Team: Actively participating as a member of a team to move the team toward the completion of goals.
• Communication: Clearly conveying information and ideas in a manner that engages the audience and helps them understand and retain the message.
• Decision Making: Committing to an action after analysing financial, people and organizational information and developing alternative courses of action based on logical assumptions, facts, and available resources.
• Work Standards: Setting high standards of performance for self and others; assuming responsibility and accountability for successfully completing assignments or tasks; self-imposing standards of excellence rather than having standards imposed.
• Continuous Improvement & Innovation: Originating action to improve existing conditions and processes; using appropriate methods to identify opportunities, implement solutions, and measure impact, including where appropriate the generation of innovative solutions.
Additional Skills/Experience & Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting ; MBA a plus.
• Minimum 2-4 years experience as analyst in investment bank or similar analyst role to this position with a studio.
• Prior experience developing and maintaining complex financial models.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is essential to success in the role.
