CMT Business & Legal Affairs Internship
Our Business & Legal Affairs department provides service to the development & production teams of the Kids & Family Group which entail drafting and negotiating various agreements for the transactional side of the business.
Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for helping out in various aspects of the BALA department which include reviewing and drafting various documents. The various documents entail deal terms, production services agreements, talent agreements, producer agreements, writer agreements, etc. - depending on the projects being worked on at the time. The intern will redline various versions of the documents while incorporating the legal guidelines and supervisor's instructions
Qualifications:
Must be at least a 2L or 3L in law school (preferably no 1Ls) with at least one entertainment related class and preferably some sort of entertainment internship experience.
Viacom Media Networks Production Risk Team & Labor and Employment Law Team, Viacom Media: Get the feel of a huge entertainment company by working for two departments in one semester! The Viacom Media Networks Production Risk Team and Viacom Media Networks Labor & Employment seek a Spring intern. This internship will provide hands on experience in both departments and will report to two Vice Presidents. The Viacom Media Networks Production Risk Team handles all production risk across all Networks (MTV, LOGO, CMT, Comedy Central, Spike, VH1, BET, Nickelodeon, TV Land). The Labor and Employment Litigation team handles labor and employment issues related to all internal staff. This opportunity is flexible with your school schedule but does require “chunks” of time when you are available.
Responsibilities:
This internship is geared solely towards substantive work to maximize learning opportunities. You will review daily reports and make sound legal judgments regarding cast and crew clearances on reality productions. You will also review and respond to litigation matters for the Labor and Employment team. Lastly, you will perform timely legal research projects spanning numerous subjects related to Labor and Employment, the use of minors in reality television, immigration, foreign travel, and other regulatory fields that come into play on our shows.
Qualifications:
- JD Candidate (2L or 3L)
- Demonstrated interest in entertainment law or pop culture through prior internships or other experience.
- Former journalists or those with an investigator background encouraged to apply.
- An interest in Labor and Employment law in an entertainment context and entertainment transactional production legal work.
- Exceptional researcher (Lexis/Westlaw)
Bellator MMA Business & Legal Affairs Internship: Join the challenging and exciting world of Bellator MMA, one of the world’s premiere Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fight promotion organizations for a semester. The Business & Legal Affairs department of Bellator is responsible for coordinating all legal aspects of the fight promotion, including fighter acquisitions, fighter contracts, negotiations, licensing, immigration, trademarks, production, talent agreements, athletic commission/regulatory relations, sponsorships, digital content, correspondence, event venues, and pre-litigation/litigation. We prefer a candidate that can devote a minimum of 3-4 days of continuous time each week to Bellator, as the nature of our work is fast-paced and often operates under tight deadlines.

-JD candidate (rising 2L, 2L, or 3L)
-Must provide at least one writing sample
-Interest in sports and more specifically, the combat sports business is greatly encouraged
-Candidates with past experience including litigation and/or clerkships are encouraged to apply
