Full Time Job
The Spike Media Manager supports the Post Production and Operation teams of the Spike Creative and Marketing Department. This role manages the ingest, storage, and distribution of all video, audio, and digital assets, including archival of finished campaigns in our Post Production facility. Additionally, the Media Manager will be responsible for cataloging accurate metadata for all media content and projects.
Responsibilities:
• Work with the Post Production Director in facilitating all media management plans.
• Have an expert understanding of Post Production workflow
• Must have an eye for detail and a strong aptitude for organizing and labeling video content for a Post Production facility.
• Can identify different codecs, types of video/audio camera formats, and metadata used in Post Production
• Build and maintain strong relationships and communicate with project teams
• Delegate tasks to Production Associates, Assistant Editors, and Interns
• Evaluate content distribution processes and recommend new efficient procedures
• Has experience in communicating with Technical Support for managing user permissions, maintaining user accounts, and to troubleshoot issues
• Eagerness to learn and keep pace with ever-advancing video storage technologies
• Keep up to date with video broadcast, digital, and social platforms and specifications
• Attend weekly meetings to give updates, raise issues, and take actionable initiatives
• Manage all video, audio, and digital assets
• Curate content within our Digital Asset Management System (DAM)
• Input and manage Metadata and Taxonomy modeled on department standards
• Govern and maintain server space allotment for our Xsan workspace, LTO archive, and other storage solutions
• Assist Producers, Project Managers, Video Editors and Designers in transferring, locating, and delivering assets
• Be the point of contact for all incoming footage from Production and shoots, and maintain a calendar of upcoming shoots and incoming footage
• Oversee and Initiate media transfers and transcodes including syncing audio and video sources
• Make sure deadlines are met and keep track of the status of video content
• Maintain our hard drive library
• Work with project managers to archive and retrieve completed projects
• Maintain a central library of clear and accurate documentation
• Manage operational procedures and spec documents
• Collaborate with Post Production and Graphics Directors on efficient workflows
• Work with other Viacom networks to ensure best practices for storing, archiving and retrieving projects in our Viacom library
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in video production or post production environments
• Must be proficient in the Adobe Creative Suite and various post production technologies
Additional Qualifications
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required
• Effective team player with proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Comfortable working in a Mac environment
• Knowledge of Reach Engine by Levels Beyond a plus
