Full Time Job
The VH1/MTV reality department seeks a Director level executive out of the Hollywood office to bring a steady flow of quality ideas, projects and formats to the network. Specific responsibilities include:
• Taking pitch meetings, building and maintaining relationships in the creative community, including writers, directors, producers, talent, managers, agents etc.
• Maintaining and updating contact sheets, calendars, draft agreements, budgets, creative for shows and act as liaison between Productions and other internal departments
• Staying abreast of the competitive market and entertainment marketplace
• Establishing good working relationships with LA and NY based agencies/managers and be able to continually forge and manage these relationships
• Participating in weekly meetings to give updates to other departments on upcoming shows, answering questions, and communicating their production needs
• Working directly with Standards & Practices to ensure approval on all creative and content
• Maintaining development pitch grid and pass grids and tracking and organizing pitch files and submissions
• Attending pitch meetings
Basic Qualifications
• 7 years’ experience in development in a network or a production company; or have 7 years reality TV producing experience with a strong desire to transition to development
Additional Qualifications
• Experience with reality based shows of all formats
• Proven strong knowledge of television, pop-culture, comedy and emerging trends from the past to the present
• Proven strong understanding of the MTV/VH1 brand, programming and creative reinvention; cannot only develop but can create internal ideas and have the ability both to execute it and expand upon it with the highest quality and standards
• Proven ability to identify unique ideas and talent before it ‘bubbles up’ to broader public awareness and able to translate that into winning/successful programming
• Strong knowledge of, and relationships with, key players in the production industry, including emerging talent, agents, production companies, producers etc.
