ROLE:
CMT is conducting a search for a Legal Assistant to support two Business and Legal Affairs executives in the Legal Department. In addition to the usual administrative activities for busy executives (such as scheduling, answering phones, preparing expense reports etc.), this position would assist with department organization systems (e.g., charts, spreadsheets) and handle legal correspondence. Additionally, the position offers the unique opportunity for exposure to the day-to-day responsibilities of a Business and Legal Affairs executive, including negotiation, drafting and related research. The extent of this exposure, and even involvement, will vary depending upon workload and initiative.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Phone responsibilities include answering calls, answering basic questions about the department and maintaining a call sheet.
- Maintaining schedule, arranging meetings.
- Preparing, submitting, following up on expense reports.
- Clerical duties include handling outgoing and incoming mail, and maintaining supplies and files.
- Facilitating execution of legal agreements, and handling distribution of agreements/documentation to executives on a regular basis.
- Updating various tracking spreadsheets and charts.
- Drafting legal correspondence
- Performing various comprehensive legal tasks under the supervision of an attorney, including drafting, redlining, precedent analysis, legal research, credit block review and evaluation of insurance compliance.
REQUIREMENTS:
- B.A. Degree
- J.D. (Preferred)
- Familiarity with general entertainment industry contracts and procedures. Prior work experience in the entertainment industry a plus.
- Proven ability to multi-task at a very high level and work with a heavy workload and successfully meet deadlines.
- Must be a quick learner who is proactive and needs minimal supervision and guidance with a proven ability to work in a fast paced/pressured environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- High-level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook for Windows.
- Strong written and oral communication skills are a must, along with superior grammar, editing and proofing skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with all types of personalities and work styles.
- Professional demeanor and exceptional phone presentation and skills.
