Have a working knowledge of live Audio Engineering, Lighting Design/or concepts, Carpentry, Stage-Rigging, and standard Theatrical Safety rules, regulations and practices;
Be flexible in their work and adaptable to change.
Position: Under general supervision of the Theatre Manager and Technical Director, the Sound Engineer / Theatre Operations Technician will assist the Technical Director in the operations of the Performing Arts Theatre.
Knowledge of: Operational principles and practices of sound and lighting design, characteristics of apparatus, equipment and materials used in set fabrication and construction, rigging and stage management; sound equipment and lighting usage, storage and maintenance;
Sound and lighting styles and effectiveness; basic electrical wiring and troubleshooting; procedures in record keeping and inventory; principles of supervision and training;
Pertinent federal, state, district, and local laws, regulations and policies regarding assigned area;
Safe work and public safety practices and procedures.
Skills to: Operate, maintain and service a variety of sound, lighting, stage equipment, hand tools and power tools;
Operate Mac and Windows computer and software.
Design and produce effective lighting and sound for theatre, music, dance and community productions;
Safely and effectively oversee and operate technical production elements including rigging, lighting, carpentry, and audio systems;
Effectively lead and provide overall technical support for a diverse production staff;
Understand the mechanical function of and perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment;
Interact effectively and sensitivity with staff, students, and the public from diverse backgrounds;
Establish, maintain, and foster positive and harmonious working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Education and Experience: Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.
Physical Characteristics: Ability to work in an environment with some ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, squat, stoop, climb, reach; pull, push and lift 50 pounds; exposure to mechanical, electrical, scenic shop and chemical hazards; ability to work nights and weekends; possess and maintain throughout employment a valid California Driver's License and good driving record.

Salary: $15.00 - $17.00 /hour
