Variety, part of rapidly growing media company Penske Media Corporation (PMC), is looking for a multi-talented Marketing Manager to join Variety's Marketing team in our brand new West LA offices. The Marketing Manager will have the opportunity to work with a talented and passionate Marketing and Sales team to oversee all general marketing initiatives and campaigns. This role reports to Variety's Managing Director of Marketing and will also provide marketing support to internal teams. Responsibilities:
• Manages all Variety Conference ticket sales & strategy Conference Producer
• Manages year-over-year analysis on paid attendance for conferences
• Recaps ticket sales and confirms trackable percentages re: attendees
• Liaises with Editorial team on all Variety marketing and event initiatives and campaigns
• Works with Managing Director and Creative team on creating and updating press and media kits
• Maintains email blast lists and works with Creative Team on creating and updating Marketing and Event eblasts
• Works with Creative Team and Marketing Coordinator on creating and updating Marketing and Event/Conference websites
• Works with Creative Team on creative and ad copy for all Marketing and Event house ads, collaterals and campaigns
• Oversees Social Media strategy for Marketing & Events; sets/executes social media plan; liaises with internal sales and edits teams for streamlined outreach and engagement and manages Variety-specific social media efforts with event sponsors, i.e. communicating event hashtag, generating Tweets/FB posts prior to event, team member Tweets during event or FB posts; creates & updates Social Media recap for all events & Conferences (including image collection)
• Plans event, conference, spotlight and general marketing campaigns in print, online and via email and liaises with Production team on inventory, frequency, etc
• Manages year-over-year analysis on marketing platform performances; ideates revised Marketing plan based on results
• Sets conference ticket prices and cut off dates w/ Conference Producer and sales team
• Schedules general marketing plan & calendar with Managing Director
• Creates new conference packages for recent grads
• Circulates blasts and house ads to Managing Directors of Marketing & Strategic Partnerships
• Works w/ Corporate PR to Track press mentions in Variety and other media ; liaises with sales team re: sponsor mentions
• Edits and finalizes conference programs with Creative Team and Conference Producer
• Works with Creative team and Conference Producer on Conference assets and collaterals
• Oversees marketing strategic partnerships and barters (film festivals, award shows, non-profit benefits) ensuring benefits are met on both sides approves logo usage on Variety-branded collaterals at external events
• Works with Creative Team on program ads for external events,
• Manages External event calendar with Events Manager, including filling tickets and tables with internal staff and external guests
• Manages distribution and display of Variety at all internal/external events/conferences/ festivals/etc. including film festivals, award shows, industry events and conferences, and non-profit benefits ; coordinates with circulation and finance teams on number of budgeted copies
• Negotiates distribution with partners for best placement at assigned locations; coordinates delivery, manages external distribution teams
• Books and tracks partners' in-exchange ad campaigns (barters)- including performance reporting.
• Develops sales media kits, one-sheets and miscellaneous materials in tandem with the sales and Creative teams
• Manages all Marketing Research (.com, history of spotlights, subscriber surveys, etc.)- with applicable teams
• Manages and disseminates all applicable research results to internal teams
• Licenses use of Variety articles; executes agreements, assigning dollar value (where applicable), provides archived PDFs to clients, ensures payments are made to Accounts Receivable.
• Develops media partnerships to increase conference ticket sales.
• Assists Event Coordinator with check-in and registration process to ensure smooth and proper VIP experience for talent and executive guests.
