Touring Company Manager (Theatrical Division)
VStar Entertainment Group (''VStar'' or the ''Company'') is one of the nation's leading multi-concept media and entertainment platforms and producer of family-friendly consumer shows and events. The company owns, operates and promotes multiple North American tours scheduled to visit more than 150 cities, including Sesame Street LIVE, a Broadway-quality musical production, produced in cooperation with Sesame Workshop; Paw Patrol Live! Race to the Rescue, a Broadway-quality interactive experience produced in cooperation with Nickelodeon, and Discover the Dinosaurs Unleashed, a dinosaur-themed, family-oriented, educational and entertainment touring exhibit. Past touring shows also include Care Bears Carealot, Hasbro's My Little Pony, Kidzbop World Tour, and Curious George Live.
The Company also: (i) arranges international tours and operates tours for the USO; and (ii) owns a production shop that produces all sets, scenes, and costumes for its touring shows. Additionally, the company leverages these capabilities and services for the benefit of third parties including the building of the mascots for over 20 professional sports teams and organizations.
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION
Provides overall leadership, supervision, and management oversight of a touring theatrical show.
Work on a day-to-day basis to maintain the integrity, consistency and safety of the touring theatrical production elements, cast, crew, and touring retail personnel along with our patrons.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Reports directly to VP of Operations, but on a daily basis works with Corporate Operations team.
Prepare and schedule all travel arrangements including intercity bus and airfare, local ground transportation arrangements from hotel to venue.
Prepare and arrange for all lodging/hotel at reasonable rates for all touring personnel with regards to budgets, safety and comfort. Coordinate proximity of accommodations with scheduling of ground transportation arrangements to maximize cost efficiencies.
For every engagement, serve as counterpart to Venue staff including Box Office Managers, Catering Contacts, General Managers and Production Staff.
Oversight over all local staffing requirements for ticket sellers, security, ushers, etc. to balance needs of patrons with engagement budgets and contracts.
Act as VStar's Marketing and Publicity on-site representative to insure smooth publicity and marketing operations during an engagement run.
Accountable for all touring financials including box office operations, petty cash disbursements, payroll, repair and maintenance evaluations, driver logs, settlements and preparation and submittals of final engagement reports.
Accountable for maintaining company morale, serving as disciplinary arbitrator on touring unit, and works with HR on all hiring and firing issues and concerns. With input from the Performance Director and Crew Chief, supports these positions on performer issues and local labor matters.
In collaboration with the Corporate Operations Team, develops and monitors weekly and monthly budgets for respective touring unit. Recommends capital expenditures and improvements as well as crew, management and local staffing needs for each production unit.
Maintain open channels of communication between touring staff and corporate departments such of Operations, Finance, Human Resources and Production by providing feedback and presenting solutions to issues that will support the company's overall business model and objectives.
Accepts and performs all other assigned duties and projects by immediate supervisors.
SUPERVISORY PERFORMANCE CRITERIA
Ability to perform duties and responsibilities under minimal supervision, recognizing when assistance is required.
Ability to achieve goals by using skills to maximize the motivation of co-workers.
Ability to anticipate what needs to be done and to act in advance. Development of new work tasks and application of Innovative methods and skills.
Strong communication skills to effectively deliver directions, assignments, conduct training sessions and establish expectations on performance to direct reports.
Responsible for the professional standards or conduct, appearance and workmanship of personnel in the respective jobs.
Understand and administer in a fair and equitable manner the companies' policies and standards of conduct with regards to inappropriate etiquette and performance by following HR's process on documentation, coaching and counseling and write-ups.
Responsible for mediation of work related disputes.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum +7 years in the Entertainment Industry in a Technical, Management or Production related position.
Ability to interpret venue contracts, read box office reports, understand IATSE pink contracts.
Ability to solve practical problems and interpret diverse instructions delivered in a variety of forms.
Possess exceptional communication, organization and leadership abilities.
Self-motivated, resourceful and can work independently on a multitude of tasks simultaneously.
