Responsibilities
Key responsibilities of this role include helping manage and generate ongoing publicity for and awareness of VStar's family of tours (e.g., PAW Patrol Live!, Discover the Dinosaurs Unleashed, Sesame Street Live!) and production services offerings.
Primary Job Functions
• Draft and distribute VStar press releases related to tours, company, and/or industry news and work through necessary approvals
• Oversee ongoing media relations, including writing and distributing media pitches and building/maintaining strong relationships with local and national consumer and industry trade media, providing relevant information to media
• Facilitate all publicity opportunities (in-studio interviews, phone interviews, special appearances at hospitals, charitable foundation requests, etc.) and provide details to tour performance director, company manager and performers
• Coordinate with ACM & Company Managers on performers schedules and publicity opportunities in each market
• Serve as on call point of contact for questions that arise from tour managers on the road and/or from media. Must be available at all hours
• Monitor all coverage and provide market recap & reporting from TV, print, and web
• Field incoming press inquiries
• Project manage each tour market and organize publicity details, pitches, feedback, changes, updates in central location
Other Job Functions as assigned
• Help design publicity opportunities & press strategies (TV/radio, print, online, etc.) for each tour in conjunction with tour producer
• Create/refresh media lists
• Design and execute Pub Seminar training for cast of each tour including updates, revisions, and ongoing training throughout the tour season
• Proof/edit cast bios for all tours
• Coordinate Media Events related to individual tours in key markets
• Add show to area event calendars, visitor centers, travel & tourism, etc.
• Manage licensing & sponsorship relationships, expectations, and deliverables
Job Requirements:
• Must be at least 18 years of age or older
• Must be able to work normal business hours in-office and be available for last minute calls and media requests on the fly from office, home, or on the go
• Bachelors Degree (B.S. or B.A. in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism or related field of business required)
• Minimum 1 year of experience in public relations/publicity or a related field is required (entertainment setting preferred)
• Must have experience pitching stories to media affiliates and managing fulfillment of in-studio, in-venue, and/or phone interviews
• Ability to build and maintain relationships and work well with others as part of a team
• Superior written and verbal communications skills, including public speaking and potential on-air opportunities
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
• Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet computer applications (Excel/Microsoft Word skills required).
• Understanding of social media platforms
• Spanish language skills a plus, but not required
