Function
The position of Early Morning Network Staff Engineer will be to perform all necessary technical duties in a manner that will exemplify professionalism and teamwork. This position reports directly to the Chief Engineer.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• 5:00am - 1:30pm technical duty shift
• Provide consistent technical assistance to high maintenance network show
• Carry Company BlackBerry cellphone, on-call 24/7 for technical emergencies
• Operate and maintain modern technical studio facilities
• Troubleshoot and repair studio technical problems
• Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair satellite uplink system
• Interface professionally with other staff and departments as needed
• Maintain professional demeanor at all times; grace under fire
• Remain flexible
• Create and operate various remote broadcast installations
• Current knowledge of applicable FCC rules and regulations
• Train personnel on new/old studio equipment
• Document installations, maintenance of equipments, systems, and networks
• Help evaluate technical quality and station standards
• Perform related duties as necessary for emergency or special operating conditions
• Always be aware of and, adhere to, all safety procedures and regulations
Minimum Qualifications for Consideration
• 5+ yrs Broadcast Engineering
• 2 yrs college basic electronics or equivalent
• Knowledge of analog and digital audio circuitry
• Knowledge of high power AM & FM transmitter RF operation a plus
• Knowledge of remote broadcasting
• Knowledge of modern studio operation
• Knowledge of PC digital networking
• Knowledge of digital audio storage and automation
• Knowledge of electronic trouble-shooting
• Knowledge of STL operation a plus
• Knowledge of T-1 systems a plus
Experience and Education
• Associates Degree in Electronics, Broadcasting or related field, or five (5) years of experience in major market broadcast engineering, which included equipment operation, repair and installation
• SBE Certification a plus
• FCC General Radio Telephone license a plus
• Working knowledge of computers
• Requires good interpersonal skills, works well under pressure
Necessary Language Skills
• Ability to communicate in Spanish considered a plus
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50+ pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
