JOB DESCRIPTION:
Univision - KFTV has an opening for a full time Broadcast Engineer. This individual will maintain all technical facilities, equipment and software applications (not overseen by the IT department). This includes, but is not limited to: Transmitters, satellite, microwave, fiber optic and MPEG transport, control room switchers, audio consoles, routing, patching, familiarity of IT systems, networking, media workflows and facility RF and video distribution. The Engineer must interface closely with operators and system users to identify and correct problems. This position requires travel to remote transmitter sites.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Maintain and repair on-site and remote broadcast equipment including but not limited to Broadcast video and audio equipment, microwave transmit/ receive sites, satellite dishes, equipment centers, studios, control rooms, cameras, editing systems, and transmitters.
• Resolve software and hardware problems beginning at the lowest level (user - tech - vendor).
• Take direction well, work with other engineers and be able to work with vendor support over the phone to resolve issues.
• As needed operate production equipment (Switchers, cameras, audio consoles, etc...) and fill in for the Master Control operator when necessary.
• Maintain building systems including but not limited to HVAC system, Security system, Phone system, Fire suppression system, backup generator and UPS equipment, Lighting system, work stations…
• Other duties as deemed necessary.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
Formal electronics and IT systems training or equivalent experience preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years broadcast television engineering preferred or equivalent.
Basic Skills:
• Basic knowledge of television equipment and operations.
• Ability to operate field and studio cameras and experience with linear and non linear editing systems a plus
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) fluent spoken preferred
• Must be able to work under tight deadlines and have good interpersonal skills
• Must be available to work nights, weekends and holidays and be available for short notice call in.
• Must have a valid CA driver's license and satisfactory driving record
•
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit, stand, walk and drive for up to (8) hours without restrictions. Must be able to lift at least 60 pounds.
