Univision KUVS 19 in Sacramento is seeking a full-time News Anchor/ Reporter to carry on the Univision mission of informing, educating, and empowering our Hispanic viewers. The successful candidate will join our seasoned staff for the 6:00PM and 11:00PM weekend newscasts. Ideal candidate must be a strong newsroom leader, have effective reporting background and be a clear, concise and accurate Spanish writer and speaker. News Anchors are responsible for gathering, researching and writing articles which can be posted ''on-line'' and/or for use on a web-based medium either on the company's website, social media or any other Univision subsidiaries. Position requires generating enterprise field reports and active participation in the community on behalf of the station. Able to be a ''one person band'' video journalist.
•
• Anchoring newscasts/special projects as assigned;
• Reporting in the field; covering news in the Sacramento DMA;
• Writing for newscasts;
• Writing teases, promos, intros, tags and generate graphics;
• Maintaining high degree of knowledge of current and community events;
• Developing and maintaining good relationships with news sources;
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:
Broadcast Journalism degree preferred. Minimum 3 years experience as an Anchor/Reporter on Spanish language television.
BASIC SKILLS:
Strong communication skills. Must have sharp news judgment and the ability to work well with others while under pressure. Knowledge in producing. Familiarity with I-News, other news gathering software, and TV news wire services. Familiarity with technical equipment, newsroom system, smart phones, teleprompter, edit bays, cameras, audio board, and other technical news equipment. Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, bend, type, edit, reach and sit for up to (8) hours.
