Univision KUVS 19 in Sacramento is seeking a full-time Weather Anchor/ Reporter to carry on the Univision mission of informing, educating, and empowering our Hispanic viewers. The successful candidate will join our seasoned staff for the morning show A Primera Hora. Candidate will present weather reports, as well as covering news and entertainment stories in the Sacramento DMA clearly and accurately in Spanish. She or He is responsible for generating story ideas, as well as making and maintaining contacts throughout the community. News Anchors should be active with social media: be responsible for gathering, researching and writing articles which can be posted ''on-line'' and/or for use on a web-based medium either on the company's website, or any other Univision subsidiaries. Write packages, intros, tags, teases, promos for any newscast. Must be able to present live shows from the field as well as doing ''ad lib''. Candidates must possess strong communications, and organizational skills. Must be a team player with solid news judgment, enterprising stories ideas, sweeps series ideas and performing other duties as assigned or required. The candidate will always be willing to help the Producer of the show in any aspect of the production, from booking guests to editing videos among other things. Able to be a ''one person band'' video journalist is a plus.
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE: Broadcast Journalism degree preferred. Minimum 2 years' experience as an Anchor or Reporter on Spanish language television.
BASIC SKILLS: Strong communication skills. Must have sharp news judgment and the ability to work well with others while under pressure. Familiarity with I-News, other news gathering software, and TV news wire services. Familiarity with technical equipment, newsroom system, smart phones, teleprompter, edit bays, cameras, audio board, and other technical news equipment. Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
* Applicants must have a valid California Driver's license, proof of insurance, and a clean driving record.
Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, bend, type, edit, reach and sit for up to (8) hours.
