JOB DESCRIPTION:
Univision - Fresno has an opening for a highly motivated professional to support the growing needs of our
state of the art broadcast facility. As a member of our Engineering team, you will be collaboratively responsible
for engineering, installation, configuration, documentation, troubleshooting and systems maintenance for Post-
Production, On-Air Origination, Media Encoding, Quality Control (QC), Disaster Recovery, Electronic Graphics,
and all interconnecting data Networks.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
· Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, calibrate, upgrade and install all audio, video, control and R.F. equipment
used in our television and radio operations.
· Back up for the Master Control operations including but not limited to; monitoring and adjusting
transmitters to keep in FCC compliance. Commercial, show, promo and PSA ingests into automation.
Audio operations during local newscast.
· The engineer may specialize in specific aspects of the facility, but should have a full understanding of
station operations and systems so as to be able to handle all types of technical emergencies.
· Other duties as deemed necessary
REQUIREMENTS:
· This is a seven-day a week, twenty-four hour per day operation. Irregular hours and scheduling can be
expected. Days off and job assignments may vary.
· Must have strong troubleshooting skills including reading schematics and system flow diagrams.
· Must be willing to learn grow and keep up to date with the ever changing broadcast equipment.
· Familiarity with various automation systems and video servers used in news and on air operations is
desired.
· Understanding of IP/IT technologies to support the above is a plus.
· Experience maintaining ''ENG'' equipment including but not limited to cameras, editing systems, Live
trucks (both microwave and cellular), wireless microphones, and IFB systems is a plus.
· ASI stream processing will also be helpful.
· Agility in multiple computer operating systems is a plus.
· General Class FCC license and/or SBE certification desired
Experience Required:
· Minimum two or more years of college or equivalent experience.
· Two years experience as a hands on engineer in a television and/or radio station is desired.
· Electronics training is a plus.
Basic Skills:
· Bilingual (English/Spanish) fluent spoken preferred.
· Basic knowledge of television, radio, and IT equipment and operations highly desired.
· Must be able to work under tight deadlines and have good interpersonal skills.
· Must be available to work nights, weekends and holidays and be available to be called in for emergencies.
· Must have a valid CA driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to sit, stand and walk for up to (8) hours without restrictions. Ability to lift and carry up to 50
pounds for extended periods of time.
