Univision KUVS-TV has an immediate opening for a Senior Photojournalist (SP). As SP, the candidate is the head of the staff of photojournalists and editors and share with producers the supervision of Video Journalists. The SP is the liaison between the News Department and the Engineering Department and is responsible for representing the News Department at technical meetings regarding camera equipment and vehicles. He/she will work with the News Director to design and implement management systems that will assure that this equipment is safeguarded and operational.
The SP also performs the duties of Photographer and Editor: to shoot and edit packages , vo's, and vo/sot's for our local newscasts or any of the productions of the Univision Local Media. Work with HD equipment. Able to gather elements for the story and interviews with or without a reporter. Must set up the studio for different productions and interviews, including audio and lighting setup. Cover news in the Sacramento DMA and vicinity. Must be a team player with solid news judgment.
Minimum Qualifications for Consideration
Education: BA/BS in Journalism/Mass Communication preferred or equivalent work experience.
Experience: At least three years' work experience as a news photographer and editor.
SKILLS: Familiarity with News Cutter, Adobe Premiere, I-news, other news gathering software. Working knowledge of technical news equipment. Able to be a ''one man band'' (video journalist) if needed. Must be able to multi-task and learn other equipment in the newsroom. Strong communication skills. Working knowledge of microwave truck and Live-U equipment a plus. Working knowledge of social media, a plus.
Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays and in a variety of environmental conditions. Some travel may be required.
Language Skills: Fluent in written and spoken Spanish/English with an emphasis on Spanish language skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to stand, walk, bend, type, edit, reach and sit for up to (8) hours.
* Applicants must have a valid California Driver's license, proof of insurance, and a clean driving record.
