Assistant Director of Development Krannert Center for the Performing Arts College of Fine and Applied Arts

Krannert Center for the Performing Arts in the College of Fine + Applied Arts at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign seeks an Assistant Director of Development. Reporting directly to the Director of Development at Krannert Center, the Assistant Director is charged to refine, develop and oversee a corporate relations/corporate development program for Krannert Center. As the corporate fundraiser for Krannert Center, this position has responsibility for the Center's Corporate Sponsorship program, including soliciting sponsors, stewarding sponsors, providing benefits, and writing grants to corporations or corporate foundations interested in supporting the performing arts. The position requires a close working relationship with Krannert Center's Director and senior managers, and with the Advancement team at the Center and FAA.
Responsibilities:
• Research, cultivate, solicit, and steward area and regional businesses to support Krannert Center; manage all aspects of solicitation including contracting, invoicing and recording payments and coordinating artwork with the Center's Director of Marketing.
• Manage a portfolio of 120 corporate prospects. Regional travel is required for this position.
• Solicit corporate sponsorships for specific programs/events/initiatives identified as priorities. Examples could include ELLNORA, Krannert Center Youth Series, and other programming.
• Collaborate with other FAA units, such as Krannert Art Museum and Japan House, on joint solicitations.
• Work with Krannert Center Director of Development and Associate Dean for Advancement to establish annual fundraising goals, and to evaluate success of fundraising strategies/initiatives.
• Draft gift proposals, fund agreements, donor correspondence, and stewardship documents as needed for donors and corporate sponsors.
• Organize and supervise all aspects of the annual Corporate Sponsors event, including invitation, catering, reservations, tickets, and the safety and comfort of guests at the function.
• Plan and coordinate special fundraising cultivation and stewardship events for both corporate and individual donors including the necessary budgeting, advertising, publicity, mailing lists, volunteers, decor, catering, production and donor acknowledgment and ensure the safety and comfort of guests at the function.
• Coordinate meetings of the corporate advisory group.
• Maintain, implement, and build a corporate recognition program to maximize local and regional corporate partnerships. Enter corporate donor information into TED.
• Provide corporate-related information for Krannert Center-related newsletters and web sites, and assist in the production of development brochures, invitations, special mailings, and provide development related reports to appear in college and university outreach efforts.
• Establish and maintain effective relations with University and community constituencies including volunteers, donors, and friends.
• Responsible for access to materials deemed private and/or confidential related to the Corporate Sponsorship program. Maintains confidential donor records, generates fundraising reports and prospect lists.
• Attend the campus corporate relations meetings.
Required Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree is required as is a strong interest in the performing arts. The Assistant Director of Development must demonstrate excellent professionalism, the ability to organize multiple tasks and priorities, and the ability to work effectively with donors through well-developed oral and written communications skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
A master's degree with three to five years of arts-related development experience for a university or for a nonprofit organization is preferred.
This is a full-time, benefits-eligible academic professional position appointed on a 12-month service basis.
