Universal Sports Network is accepting resumes for an experienced, FREELANCE event/studio Associate Producer. Universal Sports is the premier multi-platform media destination for Olympic-related sports programming in the United States. Offering more than 1,200 hours of original programming each year, Universal Sports has exclusive rights to world and national championship events in a wide array of sports, including swimming, track and field, gymnastics, cycling, skiing, figure skating and rugby.
The Associate Producer I position is responsible for assisting the production team with coverage of international sporting events as well as original programming from our Denver, Colorado studios. Associate Producer will be assigned to a variety of productions including live/taped event integrations, studio news, magazine and packaged shows. Candidate will work under the direction of various producers and will report to the Coordinating Producer and will also work closely with the post-production and operations group. Candidate will work in all areas of production and must be a self-starter and a team player. This position will work frequent overnight shifts, early mornings and weekends and may have limited travel opportunities.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare show material for live and edited events, studio shows, and packaged/original programming productions.
• Use strong editorial judgment to determine the best story lines before and during the assigned production
- Supervise various live and taped voice over productions
• Research event, athlete bios and other related information necessary to enhance the productions
• Produce and direct basic productions with producer supervision and/or guidance
• Create scripts for selected event and studio productions and prepare necessary documentation for on-air productions
• Work with editors to create compelling show elements within show guidelines including high-end teases, in-show packages, sport analysis and bumps
• Organize taped elements for live productions and work with EVS operators to execute producer's show vision
• Locate and utilize archived material from music and video library
• Assist with ENG shoots or remote productions when necessary including shooting video, managing and acting as on-site liaison
• Logging of events may be necessary
• Work independently with minimal supervision
• High degree of initiative and must be a team player
- Understand and adapt quickly to sudden production changes
• Adherence to Universal Sports broadcasting standards and procedures
• Ability to work early mornings, weekends and holidays is required
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Broadcasting, Radio/TV/Film, or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum 2-5 years working in live studio/remote control room sports productions or equivalent
• Understanding of control room, technical and operational procedures
• Strong knowledge of sports; Olympic and endurance sports preferred
• Advanced written and verbal skills (emphasis on writing for broadcast)
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are necessary
• Intermediate knowledge of editing teases, packages and features
• Hands on experience or strong familiarity with editing software including Avid, Final Cut Pro, After Effects. Chyron Duet and LyricPro knowledge is a plus
• Salary commensurate with experience
• Willing to work long hours, nights, weekends and holidays.
•Use of hands and fingers to write, use computer keyboard, telephone, printer and copier.
• May require ability to lift up to 30 pounds
• Valid driver's license
