JOB DESCRIPTION:
Universal Music Group Distribution (UMGD) is currently seeking a Senior Manager of Consumer Research, for the Santa Monica office
JOB SCOPE:
The manager will serve as a key resource for the Vice President of Strategic Insights & Research, and will run qualitative and quantitative research projects that help provide insights into the relationship between UMG and consumers.
IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:
• Lead both primary (qualitative and quantitative) and secondary consumer research studies for the department, overseeing from start to finish and ensuring high quality and timely execution
• Exercise sophisticated project management over multiple projects simultaneously to meet critical timelines
• Manage all phases of research process, including questionnaire design, data analysis, writing analyses of marketing/consumer insights data, and all associated vendor management
• Translate strategic research objectives and needs from multiple UMG stakeholders into detailed research project designs
• Incorporate analytics (including sales, web, social media, and other) into research findings and reports, liaising with both the UMG research and analytics teams
• Demonstrate excellent skill in writing and reviewing studies and reports, converting research findings into high-level actionable and value-driving insights ('connecting the dots')
• Establish and maintain communications with UMG's labels and internal teams, recognizing nuances that define each and knowing how to integrate into work approach
• Regularly present findings to executives at UMG's labels and internal teams, exercising refined communication and presentation skills
• Work with direct reports to support projects and ensure accuracy, as well as providing training, guidance, and mentorship to groom future research managers for the team
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
REQUIREMENTS:
• 3-5 years deep research experience at consumer-focused companies, with experience in Entertainment/Media industries highly desired
• Preference given to those who also have an understanding in metrics and analytics
• At least 1-2 years of management experience
• Experience with SPSS statistics as well as other analytic data software preferred
• Experience preparing research reports that also incorporate various outside measurements
• Strong self-starting work ethic, with ability to work collaboratively with many teammates
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience presenting to audiences small and large
• Able to prioritize and multi-task on a daily basis
