JOB DESCRIPTION:
Capitol Christian Music Group in Brentwood, TN is seeking a Staff Accountant.
Job Purpose
To create and maintain general ledger transactions and account analysis, oversee general ledger transactions created by other Finance department employees, and provide accounting expertise for all of CMG's divisions/departments as needed.
Essential Job Functions
• Prepare general ledger transactions in accordance with GAAP and UMG policies and procedures.
• On a timely and routine basis, prepare all account reconciliations in sufficient detail to substantiate trial balance accounts to an external auditor with adequate documentation.
• Fully responsible for general ledger transactions as they relate to sales, general reclassification, or non AP related journals.
• Serve as a key resource to all divisions regarding marketing expenditures.
• Highlight and explain non-routine transactions and significant variances to Finance department management.
• Prepare ad hoc and routine analysis of transactions for Finance department management as well as other Company contacts.
• Provide additional monthly management reporting as needed
• Maintain general ledger integrity.
• Responsible for Monthly, Quarterly and annual sales tax, personal property tax and business taxes; preparing and collecting data accordingly and reporting to government agencies. In addition, fully responsible for festival sales reporting and accounting.
• Responsible for monthly calculation and preparation of Joint Venture partner accounting income statements issued to each recipient no later than the 15th of each month and preparing the payment/disbursement request according to the separate schedule.
• Maintain and reconcile the following:
• Advertising accrual and payment for each project.
• Marketing expenditures for all participating Christian Retail Association partners.
• Track outstanding checks, identify escheat checks and insure that all procedures stay in compliance with policy. Responsible for all follow through regarding this process.
• Reconcile all monthly bank statements; verify for accuracy and timing issues. Ensure integrity of positive pay files with bank(s).
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Proficient in:
• Strong computer skills and proficient with Microsoft Office 2000 (incl Excel and Access)
• 10-key Proficiency
• Thorough, accurate, and detail-oriented
• Organization and prioritization skills
• Good oral and written communication skills
• 2 to 3 years of relevant accounting experience preferred
Education & Experience:
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
• C.P.A. Designation preferred
