JOB DESCRIPTION:
Universal Music Enterprises (UMe) is the centralized U.S. catalog and special markets entity for UMG. Working in concert with all of the company's record labels, UMe provides a frontline approach to catalog management, a concentration of resources, a greater emphasis on strategic marketing initiatives and opportunities in new technologies. UMe is seeking a Director of Promotions to direct promotions and marketing at various radio formats in support of Universal Music Enterprises releases and catalogue.
Job Description
• Identify, foster, and maintain strong working relationships with key contacts at radio
networks, radio stations, including programming directors and promotion directors
at various radio formats.
• Maximize and implement creative and innovative promotional opportunities on
local and national level to support top priority projects.
• Create and execute promotions, from product giveaway contests tied to on-air mentions,
web exposure, to sweepstakes contests and broadcast events
• Conceptualize and oversee the creation of effective promotional tools, including
sampler CD, radio specials, interview discs, radio website tools, and merchandise.
• Network with potential promotional partners to secure additional tools, i.e.
artist-related merchandise, special prizes from external promotional partners,
autographed items, concert tickets, meet & greets and other 'experience ops'.
• Timely service of advance product to key decision-makers, timely finished product
servicing for airplay, promotion and special programming.
• Ability to interact professionally with various departments within UMe, manager,
tour managers, and booking agents regarding status of project and plan overall.
• Monitor e-mail and voice mail and respond in a timely manner to radio & media
personnel involving priorities.
• Determine which projects demand additional support, identify the best third party vendor
for the job, request the necessary budget allocation, and report progress to
staff.
• Ability to use various on-line systems to run radio reports - Mediabase, BDS, Soundscan, etc.
• Occasionally, promote new and current singles through radio station contacts and
relationship building according to UMe priorities
• Maximize airplay to achieve a record's greatest chart potential and audience impact.
• Oversee development of radio specials and coordinate clearances.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor's Degree from fully accredited College or University
• 5-7 years experience, in radio, promotions or marketing
• Great organizational skills with the ability to prioritize evolving workload
• Strong communication abilities with the ability to write and convey marketing plans/efforts
to senior executives, colleagues and reports
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, including adaptability, personal effectiveness, and
the ability to establish quick rapport
• Must be a self-starter with the ability to prioritize and effectively follow through under
pressure and/or tight deadlines
Occasional travel required.
