Description
The Project Portfolio Manager is responsible for managing medium-large Information Technology (IT) Application, Infrastructure, and/or PMO projects or programs in adherence to the global IT Project Management Office (PMO) methodologies. This individual must ensure project deliverables are clearly defined and managed while providing exceptional project management and PMO services to IT and the business.
This role will also govern the IT Portfolio and report on project performance and provide support to aid PM’s globally to ensure adherence to the PMO standards. This individual will work closely with PMO management to mature the project, program and portfolio management (PPM) processes
The ideal candidate must possess strong leadership skills and define solutions to harmonize disparate IT PPM processes into standardized PMO solutions globally. This individual may be responsible for managing a small team (1-3) of PMO staff.
Job Functions:
Project Management:
• Lead medium-large projects and/or support med-large initiatives for Infrastructure, Applications, and PMO teams.
• Manage project scope, schedule, quality, resources, risks, issues and dependencies.
• Provide quality PMO services to all IT teams while ensuring compliance to the PMO processes.
• Regularly monitor project performance and communicate impediments affecting project health.
• Identify and escalate project risks and impediments and define mitigation actions for same.
• Facilitate global meetings and working sessions for improved transparency and issue resolution.
• Other duties may be assigned; may require some supervisory responsibilities in this position.
Portfolio Management:
• Lead PMO meetings which may include Intake, Project Status, and Global PM Community meetings.
• Ensure project adherence to the IT Finance policies for budget approvals and tracking.
• Partner with Finance for financial planning and forecasting including annual planning, analysis, and support.
• Generate IT Portfolio reports and report on critical portfolio metrics.
• Ensure projects are properly resourced and identify resource or demand concerns.
• Work with PM’s to mitigate project scope, schedule, budget, and dependency risks.
• Assist with governing adherence to all phase-gate requirements from inception through closure.
• Act as primary liaison between the PMO and PM’s, IT Leads to ensure the IT portfolio is maintained.
Job Requirements:
Skills/Abilities:
• Strong understanding of project, program, portfolio, and resource management.
• Ability to develop executive-level communications, metrics and reports.
• Experience managing or supporting Infrastructure or Application projects.
• Service focused and promotes cross-functional collaboration and synergies.
• Team player, adaptable, and flexible to drive and deliver effort on time.
• Strong customer relationship management and interpersonal skills.
• Provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers.
• Knowledge of Daptiv, ServiceNow, JIRA, MS-Project, or similar PPM tools.
• Performs effectively as member of a team or independently with minimal supervision.
• Communicates effectively with management, peers, including technical and non-technical individuals.
• Excellent organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking.
• Familiarity with various project frameworks (Waterfall, Agile, Scrum, LEAN, Kanban, PRINCE II) a plus.
• Experience in MS Office Products (Outlook, Excel, Word, Visio, MS-Project, SharePoint, and Power Point).
• Experience in a global business environment preferred.
Experience:
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Project Manager or PMO support role.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a Portfolio Management role a plus.
• Experience concurrently managing 3 projects in a matrixed or non-matrixed organization.
• Experience managing Infrastructure Operations or Security projects a plus.
• Background in Media and Entertainment industry a plus.
Education:
• Bachelor’s Degree or higher; equivalent experience may be considered.
• Certification in Project Management, PMP, Portfolio Management, PfMP, or PRINCE II a plus.
• Knowledge of the PMI-Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) a plus.
