A. Job Summary:
Universal Music Group and Brands ('UMGB') is a newly created division within Universal Music Group USA, set up to
offer a more centralized new business and partnership approach to brand, media and agency partners. UMGB accesses the breadth and depth of the Universal Music Group's incredible roster, assets, and IP to deliver music based marketing solutions to brands / business partners.
The Manager for Brand Insight is a key role responsible for supporting UMGB's relationships with Fortune 500 companies and developing strategic marketing partnerships that drive incremental revenue for the company and provide marketing programmes for our artists. This role will also be responsible for campaign evaluation and leveraging these learning's to drive future strategy effectiveness.
B. Job Functions:
• Align expertise, process, tools and resources with multiple partner needs and timelines across UMG brand teams – centrally and within labels.
• Lead the delivery of research (primary & secondary), analytics and insights that inform consumer targeting and engagement, content and business development and brand strategies.
• Responsible for creating and fielding internal research – designing studies, selecting appropriate methodology and packaging the information for client meetings and presentations.
• Leverage primary and secondary data sources to identify market trends and customer insights, and translate these into actionable brand ideas and strategies.
• Develop cross media case studies to provide proof points for new sectors, platforms and audiences. Drive understanding of the value created by UMGB partnership activity.
• Engage in compelling business storytelling to ensure insight inspires strategic decision making
• Work in highly collaborative & cross-functional team environment.
• Best practice methodology and process to be integrated with the global insight function to maximise efficiency and revenue generation.
C. Job Requirements:
Skills/Abilities:
• Sophisticated Word, Excel and PowerPoint proficiency.
• Strong research numerical and analytical skills.
• Ability to develop logical and convincing arguments spanning multiple client sectors.
• Strong presentation skills (preparation and delivery)
• Effective communicator with proven negotiating skills.
• Strong collaborative skills to deliver results for the team.
Experience:
• 5 years successful experience in media or brand strategy insight and analysis. Agency background preferable.
• Experience in managing and leveraging a strong / major brand.
• Strong relationship development and the ability to work in a large multi-platform sales organisation.
• Track record of dealing with senior-level marketers and agency clients.
• Experience working with multiple media – media planning background would be useful.
• Project management experience in a relevant environment is essential.
• Proven experience of dealing and influencing senior management across multiple lines of business.
Education:
• Degree level education.
