Job Summary:
For 75 years Blue Note Records has represented The Finest In Jazz. Under the continued leadership of Bruce Lundvall and Don Was, Blue Note has been the home of the most prominent stars and cutting-edge innovators in Jazz today, while at the same time broadening its horizons to include quality music in multiple genres.
Universal Music Group is looking for a Junior Product Manager/Coordinator to work in Hollywood, California.
Job Functions:
• Work with to create marketing plans.
• Work with label to construct and maintain marketing budgets.
• Organize weekly updates for the team – including all radio, press, sales and digital updates.
• Work with third party partners in building press kit asset pages.
• Organize artist press trips and promo opportunities with indie PR companies and in-house PR teams. This includes the monitoring of daily itineraries and including all Blue Note opportunities into over-reaching campaigns.
• Create and book advertising campaigns.
• Work with vendors on the creation and distribution of merchandise (posters, stickers).
• Liaise with independent PR companies or in-house PR companies to get updated weekly press reports and ensure they are receiving all pertinent information of activities from our end.
• Work with third-party labels and managers on maintaining guest lists and ticket needs for the team.
• Make a running list of weekly NY and LA shows and ensure that Blue Note employees are attending third-party shows and have proper guest list and credentials sorted out.
• Create a running list of non-Blue Note shows that someone from Blue Note should be attending.
• Help plan and organize Blue Note branded events at CMJ and SXSW and other showcases.
• Seek other opportunities for Blue Note to have visibility at festivals and conferences
• Work with third-party labels, managers and booking agents to ensure venues have materials for touring artists.
• Work with all of the departments to ensure we are maximizing visibility when bands are on tour.
• Perform a range of administrative and marketing support duties related to the daily operations of Blue Note team
• Maintain all scheduling and manage overall department workflow
• Process and track all Blue Note invoices and payments
• Work and utilize Uniport, DJ Central and Hit List entries
Job Requirements:
Skills/Abilities:
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including: PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Word
• Strong communication abilities with the ability to write and convey marketing plans/efforts to executives and management
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, including adaptability, personal effectiveness, and the ability to establish quick rapport
• Must have excellent written and oral communications skills
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills a must, as is the ability to juggle many tasks at one time and change gears quickly
• Must be highly self-motivated with strong organizational skills and the ability to thrive independently in a flexible, fast-paced team environment
Experience:
• 3-5 years music industry experience with an emphasis on consumer-driven marketing.
Education:
• Degree qualified or equivalent experience
