Full Time Unpaid Internship
Job Summary: Capitol Music Group (CMG) is comprised of Capitol Records, Virgin Records, Motown, Blue Note Records, Astralwerks, Harvest Records, Capitol Christian Music Group, Priority Records and Deep Well Records, as well as Capitol Studios and CMG's independent label services and distribution division, Caroline. Capitol Music Group is based in Hollywood, California in the iconic Capitol Records Tower.
We are currently seeking 1-3 bright minds to help shape the future of the music industry at the major label level. The Intern positions within Research at CMG will be tasked with producing high-quality analysis and presentations on various aspects of the current and future business. Additionally we will be giving you very specific demographic-focused work to allow you to participate as an equal within our team.
Job Functions:
• Spend 1-3 days per week immersed in our artists and our business to help provide key insights that will help guide CMG to best succeed in the industry going forward.
• Perform wide-ranging studies within the current music climate to better understand emerging artists, genres, trends and consumption patterns both in the US and internationally.
Job Requirements:
Skills/Abilities:
• Direct study in some form of data analytics and/or a demonstrated skill set that will allow you to perform analysis on a routine basis with limited supervision.
• A life-long passion for music, both recorded and live, required.
• General knowledge of the current music industry as a whole including market trends, international territories, major accounts, artists, genres etc. A healthy emphasis in the streaming world is preferred.
• Intermediate user of Microsoft Office Suite with some Excel work required. Intermediate user of Apple products with Keynote
preferred
. Photoshop and/or design experience a plus.
• Coding experience with SQL or a similar product suite highly preferred.
• A passion for the art of analytics along with a need to constantly question how and why we operate the way we do.
• An interest in data visualization, high-level presentations and long-range planning/thinking is a plus.
Experience:
• Undergraduates with previous music industry internship or college rep experience preferred.
Education:
• Students studying for an undergraduate degree in a Music Industry or Music Business major preferred.
• Students studying for a Business or Analytics/Programming degree with a unique passion for music preferred.
