Job Summary
Our central Finance team are looking for a bright, numerically minded intern to join their busy team for a 12 month placement period. The right candidate will have a drive for a career in finance, with a good understanding of Excel. Good communication skills and ability to pick things up quickly will be key for this role. A passion for music is desirable, as well as an interest in the entertainment sector.
main purpose of role
The Central finance department sits in UMO (Universal Music Operations) as a support centre to the wider company.
The jobholder provides financial and administrative support to the Central Finance department, working across all areas (RTR, PTP, OTC, Treasury, Label Support and Group Consolidation teams).
Tasks include:
• General support to the RTR team including budget control for owned UMO departments plus various ad hoc analysis.
• Treasury – Banking, raising cheques, posting cheques, posting credit card transactions, coordination of document exchange with the outsourced partners and banking correspondence.
• OTC/ PTP – General administrative duties (post, coordination of document exchange with the outsourced partners) plus ad hoc projects.
• IT support – working alongside Finance Systems Analyst to administer access requests to software and systems.
• Office management duties – General support to all team members including IT access administration, stationery, meeting facilitator and concert ticket coordinator.

As well as duties particular to the department and specific projects, some general and regular responsibilities for interns include - preparing documents for weekly / ad hoc meetings, updating & managing contact databases, raising purchase orders for costs and invoices as well as general support for the department in terms of diary management, booking transport and ordering stock & stationery.
We are looking for self motivated, hard working and enthusiastic individuals, with excellent communication, IT and organisational skills. Our interns also need to be able to keep calm under pressure and prioritise their own workload. ‘Music’ experience (personal or professional) and a knowledge of working in an office environment is preferable.
