JOB DESCRIPTION
Job title: Full-Stack Web Developer (1 year fixed-term)
Department: Spinnup
Location of work: Kensington 4 days a week, otherwise remote
main purpose of role
Spinnup is Universal Music's tech-driven approach to talent discovery in the music industry. It is an international digital platform and service helping unsigned musicians to distribute their music globally and to get heard by the industry. Spinnup is established in UK, Germany, Sweden, France, Denmark, Norway and very soon, in the US and Canada. We are a small, friendly and dynamic start-up style team who run the business together and believe in giving people autonomy in their roles.
We have a rare opportunity for a full-stack developer to join our new tech team at Universal's offices and contribute to the development of the industry's most innovative approach to finding and signing new musicians.
Applicants must have experience in both back and front-end development and good knowledge of the latest tools and methodologies. You like to keep up to date with new technologies and concepts and love to learn and try new things. You are a good communicator, excellent problem solver, quick learner and can work independently. Above all, you are committed and passionate about providing top-class tools for our artists, talent scouts and A&Rs.
Key Responsibilities
• Designing and developing new features
• Investigating and resolving defects
• Helping to assure the quality of other team members' code
• Working collaboratively to tackle complex problems and make important decisions
• Estimating and planning development tasks
• Advising on feasibility and complexity of potential features
• Identifying and implementing improvements for reliability, scalability and performance
person specification
Essential
• Experience using PHP
• Experience using JavaScript, HTML, CSS
Desired
• A passion for working in the music industry
• Experience using modern front-end frameworks, preferably ReactJS with Redux
• Experience using PHP frameworks, preferably Laravel
• Experience with responsive web development
• Experience with test-driven development
• A solid understanding of relational databases
• An understanding of REST APIs
• UX or design skills
