JOB DESCRIPTION:
A. Job Summary:
In partnership with the finance team of Universal Music Logistics (UML), a subsidiary of Universal Music Group/UMG) responsible for the physical supply chain; this position will oversee UML's financial reporting & accounting team within UMG's Central Accounting Services (CAS) department. This position will manage the monthly close for UML and work closely with UML's finance team to ensure accurate and timely submission of monthly financial results to UMG global finance in London. In addition, this position will oversee the inventory accounting department that performs services on behalf of all UMG labels, including the monthly reconciliation of inventory balances and providing analytical reports to the UMG labels to assist in the analysis of manufacturing costs. The position will also entail interactions with various groups within UMG and external parties such as manufacturing vendors and auditors. We are looking for an individual with proven team leadership skills, a passion for process renewal, a solid technical foundation in GAAP, experience in providing excellent customer service and a solid background in manufacturing.
B. Job Functions:
• Liaise with internal or external auditors and provide audit deliverables
and inquiry resolution.
• Manage the monthly close process and ensure financial statements are prepared
in accordance with IFRS and submitted within global corporate deadlines for UML:
o Review monthly reporting package and various analyses
(income statement/balance sheet) prepared by staff to validate the monthly close
of UML
o Coordinate with business unit finance team and other departments within
UMG to ensure all transactions are properly recorded in the general ledger
o Provide accounting guidance to staff to ensure transactions are recorded
in accordance with the Red Book (UMG's accounting policy book)
o Coordinate and run the monthly close meetings to review the monthly
financial statements with the UML finance team
o Review the submission of the financial statements to corporate via the
Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) consolidation system
o Maintain appropriate supporting documents to ensure compliance
with internal control and Sox documentation requirements.
• Manage & oversee central processes affecting UMG labels related to physical
chain including the following:
Review inventory reconciliations & ensure reconciliation issues are resolved timely
o Primary liaison within the UMG finance community on resolving issues and
providing appropriate reports or analytics on areas of the balance sheet
and income statement impacted by inventory accounting, including
manufacturing costs analysis and obsolescence/scrapping analysis.
o Oversee the reconciliation of physical sales interfaces between the source
systems Legacy/SR and SAP
o Liaise with UML finance team to resolve issues and questions from UMG labels
and distribution company accounting and finance teams surrounding SR interfaces
o Liaise with UML business and finance team to resolve issues and
questions surrounding intercompany invoices for mastering invoices
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and assist in the annual SOx
compliance testing.
• Continue process improvements and develop new, more efficient procedures to
assist in meeting tight reporting deadlines.
• Manage the resources & general ledger work processes outsourced to WNS,
UMG's outsourcing partner.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
• Oversee current staff of 4 employees responsible for the monthly close & financial reporting for the UML business unit and inventory accounting for all UMG labels.

Skills & Abilities:
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Advanced Excel proficiency a must.
• Ability to manage competing priorities, work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast paced financial environment.
• Knowledge SAP accounting software preferred.
Experience:
• Minimum of 5 years financial reporting experience, including 2 years in
a management role.
• Manufacturing industry experience and solid knowledge of cost accounting required.
• Music industry financial reporting experience preferred.
Education:
• BA in Accounting or related field of study, MBA or CPA valued.
